DraftKings Sportsbook Quick Review

DraftKings Sportsbook Intro Promo

DraftKings is currently offering new sportsbook users a Bet $5, Get $150 in Bonus Bets welcome offer.

Simply sign up, deposit, and make your first bet of $5 to get $150 in bonus bets (6 bonus bets of $25 each).

Important Terms & Conditions

First, there is a 1x playthrough requirement before you can withdraw the money. This means that you can't just withdraw the bonus bets right away—you have to bet them at least once before you can withdraw any winnings.

You only have 7 days to use the bonus bets, so make sure you use them all before they expire.

How it Stacks Up

Compared to betting offers at other online sportsbooks, we've rated the DraftKings Sportsbook intro bonus as a 4.5/5. While the potential total value of $150 isn't as high as what some other sportsbooks offer, it requires a much smaller upfront investment.

Ready to sign up for the DraftKings Sportsbook? Access the intro promo here.

DraftKings Sportsbook Odds Competitiveness

DraftKings regularly offers the most competitive odds for all sports that we've analyzed.

You can expect to see the standard -110 odds on most spread and total bets as well as competitive moneyline odds. You can learn more about how to read betting odds here.

Still, it's always smart to use at least a few sportsbooks so you can shop around for the best odds. This doesn't take much time but is important to become a profitable sports bettor over time.

DraftKings Sportsbook Odds Boosts & Promos

On top of offering competitive odds, DraftKings also offers a number of attractive promotions and odds boosts that can help you win additional money.

Odds Boosts

DraftKings typically offers around 10 odds boosts each day depending on what games are on that day. Most wagers are typically boosted anywhere from 15% to 40% and there is rarely a max limit like some other sportsbooks have.

You can find odds boosts on all major sports leagues as well as some more obscure leagues from time to time.

Promotions

Aside from the sign-up bonus, DraftKings regularly offers promotions allowing you to earn extra money, get refunds, and more. I found this to be especially true during football season.

Here are some examples of promos that DraftKings has run in the past:

  • Parlay Profit Boosts: During the NFL season, especially, DraftKings regularly allows you to boost the odds on anywhere from one to five parlays (of your choosing) by 10% to 20%. This, along with DK's competitive NFL odds, makes it arguably the best NFL betting site.
  • Game Profit Boosts: During the NFL season, especially, DraftKings regularly allows you to boost the odds on anywhere from one to five game lines (of your choosing) by 10% to 20%. This can turn the standard -110 line to even or positive money which is a huge advantage.
  • March Mania 75+ Point Insurance: For the NCAA basketball tournament, if your team loses but scores 75+ points, get your money back.
  • Parlay Insurance: Get your money back up to $25 if only one leg of your 3+ team parlay loses.

We have also seen DraftKings offer deposit matches/reload bonuses for current customers in the past.

Rewards Program

The DraftKings Sportsbook rewards program is called My Rewards. By simply placing wagers in the sportsbook, you'll earn “Crowns” that you can redeem for “DK Dollars” that you can use in the sportsbook and in DFS contests, free credits in the DraftKings Casino, and more.

To see your Crowns balance, simply hit your account icon in the app or on the website and look for the My Rewards menu item.

Types of Bets DraftKings Offers

Like most sportsbooks, DraftKings offers Vegas-style betting including all popular types of sports bets, such as:

Live betting

DraftKings also offers live betting on most markets including football, baseball, basketball, hockey, and (much) more. With many games, you also have the option to cash out your bet early if you'd like. This is especially helpful for parlays where multiple legs have already hit and you don't want to risk losing on the last game or two.

Same game parlays

In the last year or so, “same game parlays” have become very popular after major sportsbooks—such as FanDuel—started offering them.

So does DraftKings offer same game parlays?

Yes, DraftKings DOES offer same parlays. DraftKings added same game parlays just before the 2021 NFL season kicked off and they are available on many games.

Signing Up for the DraftKings Sportsbook

DraftKings Sportsbook User Experience

You can bet with DraftKings through its website or mobile apps (iOS & Android). The app/website will verify your location to ensure you are located in a state where DraftKings operates online.

DraftKings uses the same app (called DraftKings Sportsbook), except for Illinois which is called the DraftKings at Casino Queen Sportsbook app.

You may be required to download an application to your computer to help verify your location or grant the website/mobile app access to your location. Note that you don't have to be a resident of any specific state to be eligible to bet; you just must be physically located in a state where DraftKings is allowed.

Now let's dive into the user experience with DraftKings Sportsbook mobile app and website—one of my favorite of all the online sportsbooks. Both have clean designs, are easy to navigate, and overall provide a great experience.

You can also find extensive team and player statistics that can help you make more educated bets (we touch on these more in the Educational Resources section in this review).

We'll dive into the mobile app first then take a look at the desktop site, both of which are very similar.

DraftKings Sportsbook Mobile App

The first thing you'll notice about the DraftKings Sportsbook app is the dark theme used throughout. At first, I was a little turned off by this—especially mainly coming from the white theme of the FanDuel Sportsbook—but as I've gotten used to it, I find it easy on the eyes and easy to navigate.

Navigation

Like a lot of other mobile sportsbook apps, the DraftKings app has a few menus that make it easy to navigate. Up top, you can easily switch between the sportsbook, casino, flash bets, pools, stats, and daily fantasy.

A bit below that, there is a “Quick Links” section that allows you to jump to the most popular sports and sections of the app (such as Odds Boosts) quickly.

On the bottom of the screen, you can go back to the homepage, see games you can live bet, open up the bet slip (including already-placed bets), see all sports offered, and view current promotions.

Making selections

Once you tap into a specific game, the menu is simple and intuitive. The “Popular” section shows the most common bets such as spreads, totals, and moneyline, as well as popular prop bets.

I also really like the presentation of player props. Unlike some apps, such as FanDuel, that seem to have player props in a random order, DraftKings groups all player props in a single category (ex: first TD scorer, receiving yards, points, etc).

If you want to see the first or any time TD scorers for an NFL game, for example, you can see the odds for every player for both in the same section.

Overall thoughts

Overall, I really don't have any complaints about the DraftKings Sportsbook app. Once you've spent some time on it, it's very easy to use and I never have any trouble finding what I am looking for.

Screenshots

Check out some of the screenshots below to get a better idea of what the DraftKings Sportsbook app is like (click to expand):

DraftKings Sportsbook Website

You'll notice that the DraftKings Sportsbook website and mobile app are very similar. They have the same basic design with some of the menus moved around to hit better on the respective screen sizes.

On desktop, it's still easy to quickly navigate to what games you want to bet on, especially with the “Popular” and “A-Z Sports” menus on the left side of the screen.

I also really like how the bet slip is always visible in the right sidebar of your screen. This makes it easy to see what odds you would get in a parlay, teaser, round robin, etc. Speaking of which, the bet slip makes it really easy to quickly switch between single bets, parlays, and round robins, and there is also an option to make eligible parlays into teasers.

Here are some screenshots of the DraftKings Sportsbook website (click to expand):

Stability

I've been using DraftKings since it first launched in 2018 and have rarely had any issues with the app crashing. At times, I've had to try a few times to login because of errors, but I've rarely been in the app where it has crashed or just completely not worked.

There are some customers who have complained about the app being glitchy or not working otherwise, but this isn't something that I haven't experienced.

DraftKings Sportsbook Customer Reviews

The DraftKings Sportsbook has arguably the best reviews in the entire industry. In the Apple App Store, for example, the main app has 4.8 stars from 321 thousand reviews as of the time of this writing.

Most customers are happy with the sports and types of wagers offered, the user experience and app stability, and the odds, odds boosts, and promos offered.

As with any product, though, there are some people that have had bad experiences. Here are the most common complaints I've seen in my research:

  • Poor/unresponsive customer service
  • Trouble depositing/withdrawing money
  • App crashing or glitching out
  • Online casino not working properly

DraftKings Sportsbook Education & Responsible Gaming Resources

Like any form of gambling, there is always a risk of losing your money when sports betting—especially if you don't fully understand how it works. In addition, gambling addiction is a serious problem that is easier to fall into than most people realize.

For that reason, when rating sportsbooks, I considered what kind of educational resources they provide and what responsible gambling resources and limits they have in place.

Educational resources

DraftKings has two main guides to help people learn about sports betting as well as sport-specific guides that go into more detail.

First, their How to Bet 101 guide goes over the basic types of wagers (parlays, moneyline, spread, total, and live betting). The Betting Terminology guide goes over the most popular betting terms that gamblers may come across.

DraftKings also offers sport-specific guides for football, baseball, MMA, golf, basketball, and hockey that go into the specific things you need to know about betting each.

One of my favorite things DraftKings is the “Stats Hub” that customers have access to to help them make more educated bets. DK provides very extensive stats for all popular sports, including information about historical performance, player props, line movement, and much more.

I find the player-specific statistics to be especially helpful for choosing player props. For all major games, DraftKings shows the percentage of games that players have hit the current line for their player props. For example, if the LeBron James points prop is at 24.5, DraftKings will often show you what percentage of games he has scored above 24.5 for the season, in the last 5 games, last 10 games, games versus that specific opponent, and even after wins and loses.

The in-depth statistics that DraftKings provides is just another thing that sets them apart from much of the competition in creating a well-rounded betting experience.

Responsible gaming resources & limits

DraftKings has a relatively in-depth Responsible Gaming and Patron Protection guide that goes over how they help players gamble responsibly, links to resources that go over warning signs of gambling addiction and where to find help, provides information about how to keep your account safe, and details the limits they have in place to help.

Here is a quick overview of each of the limits DraftKings offers:

  • Deposit limit. Limits how much you can deposit to your account in a daily, weekly, or monthly time period.
  • Wagering limit. Limits how much you can wager while playing.
  • Time limit. Limits how much time you can spend on the app or website in a session.
  • Max wager limit. Limits how much you can risk on a single wager.
  • Self-exclusion. Block yourself from betting for a period of 12 months or forever (permanent self-exclusion).
If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, you can also call 1-800-GAMBLER to get help.

DraftKings Sportsbook Alternatives

As our second-highest-rated sportsbook, there aren't many better options than DraftKings. There are a few other sportsbooks that may be a better fit for you depending on what you're looking for, however.
