Betr Picks vs. Underdog: Which DFS App is Better?

I’ve been playing on both Betr Picks and Underdog for a while now, and I figured it’s time to break down how they compare. While they both run Pick ’em-style contests, each platform has its strengths depending on what you want.

Betr Picks is the better option if you want:

  • Bigger max payouts. Betr pays up to 10,000x on 7-pick entries with multipliers. Underdog maxes out at 120x.
  • No-push scoring. Every stat line uses half-points (like 19.5), so there are no pushes and no chance of a pick getting voided.
  • Low deposit/withdrawal barriers. Minimum deposit is just $5, and you can cash out starting from $1. It’s one of the most accessible apps for casual players.

Underdog is a better choice if you want:

  • Better payouts. While Betr and Underdog have the same payouts for some entry sizes, Underdog wins out 3-player insured, 4-player insured, 6-player insured, 7-player insured, and 8-player insured entries. Betr's payouts aren't better than Underdog for any entry size or type.
  • More contest types. In addition to Pick’em, Underdog runs full salary-cap DFS contests, Best Ball, and Battle Royale drafts, all in one app.
  • Wider Flex safety net. With Flex mode, you can miss up to 2 picks on 6–8 pick slips and still get paid. Betr only allows this on 9- or 10-pick entries.
  • Broader state access. Underdog is live in over 40 states, while Betr covers approximately half that number.
  • Desktop + mobile play. You can build entries on your computer or phone; Betr is a mobile-only platform.
  • More stat variety. You’ll find alternate lines, combo stats, and unique prop options that Betr doesn’t currently offer.
  • Bigger bonus upfront. Underdog’s welcome bonus is 2x larger than Betr’s.

Bottom line: Underdog is the more complete app overall. It gives you more contest formats, deeper stat selections, and a full-blown fantasy ecosystem. Betr, on the other hand, gives you more upside on longshots with 10,000x potential and plenty of promos you can stack on top of what Underdog gives.

I recommend using both apps so you can switch depending on what type of contest you want to play and which league.

Plus, you can grab both welcome bonuses: a $10 free + 50% deposit match up to $200 bonus at Betr Picks with promo code ASSIST, or Play $5 Fantasy Entry, Get $75 in Fantasy Entries at Underdog  using code ODDS100.

Betr Picks vs. Underdog State Availability – Winner: Underdog

Underdog is available in over 41 states, making it one of the most accessible DFS platforms in the U.S. Betr Picks, on the other hand, is only active in about half that number, which can be a dealbreaker depending on where you live.

That said, not every contest type is available in every Underdog state.

Underdog’s Pick’em games (the standard higher/lower vs. the house format) are only available in about 28 states. In the others, they’ve rolled out an alternative called Pick’em Champions, which is peer vs. peer but still stat-based. Draft-style contests like Best Ball and Battle Royale are available in all Underdog states, regardless of Pick’em restrictions.

Betr Picks, on the other hand, offers only Pick’em contests, which are available in 23 states + D.C. That makes it a more limited platform if you're looking for broader access.

You can learn more in our Underdog States Guide and our Betr Picks States Guide to see which games are available in which states.

Betr Picks vs. Underdog Sign-Up Bonus – Winner: Underdog

Betr Picks gives new users $10 free after registering and a 50% match on their first deposit up to $200 bonus. Note that entries placed with Betr Bucks pay out one multiplier tier lower than cash entries.

Underdog offers Play $5 Fantasy Entry, Get $75 in Fantasy Entries when you use code ODDS100. It’s one of the biggest DFS bonuses available right now.

Both apps only require a 1x playthrough, so it’s relatively easy to turn the bonus into withdrawable cash.

Overall, Underdog's welcome bonus is more valuable than that of Betr Picks. It's bigger and requires a smaller deposit to trigger.

Betr Picks vs. Underdog Incentives for Returning Players – Winner: Betr Picks (But It’s Close)

Both Betr Picks and Underdog keep a steady flow of promos going, and if you’re playing often, there’s usually something running on either platform to take advantage of.

Underdog runs regular payout boosts, insurance promos on select slips, and seasonal challenges. They also offer a $10 referral bonus and occasional special events like Bracket Contests or Pick’em giveaways around big sports moments.

Betr Picks pushes the envelope a bit further. Their promos include 2x or 3x multiplier boosts, insurance on 3+ pick entries, reload bonuses, leaderboard challenges, and frequent social contests with prizes like SC balances or gift cards. They also give out $100 bonuses if you’re the 23rd referrer on a given day, on top of their $10/$5 standard refer-a-friend promo.

Neither site has a formal loyalty or VIP program, but the frequency and variety of Betr’s promos give them a slight edge for returning players.

Betr Picks vs. Underdog Pick’em Payouts – Winner: Underdog

When it comes to raw payout value, Underdog has a clear edge over Betr Picks across most entry sizes. If you're building slips with 3 to 6 picks, Underdog consistently offers higher multipliers, especially on Flex plays.

Here’s how it shakes out:

  • 3-pick Flex: Underdog pays 3x, 2x, and 1x depending on how many hit. Betr caps at 2.5x, 1.25x.
  • 4-pick Flex: Underdog offers up to 6x and 1.5x for partial wins. Betr matches this only on the top end.
  • 5-pick Flex: Underdog hits 10x, 2.5x, and 0.4x which is stronger than Betr’s 10x, 2.5x, and 0.25x.
  • 6-pick Standard: Both apps pay 35x.
  • 7-pick and 8-pick: Underdog climbs to 65x and 120x. Betr pays 10,000x for picks with multipliers.

Even though Betr advertises 10,000x payouts on 7-pick slips, that multiplier only kicks in under specific formats with Scorcher or boosted picks. For everyday entries, Underdog’s structure is just more rewarding.

Bottom line: If you care about consistent payout value, especially on standard Flex entries, Underdog gives you better pricing at every step.

Betr Picks vs. Underdog User Interface – Winner: Underdog (Slightly)

Both Betr Picks and Underdog make it easy to build and submit entries. The layouts are clean, the apps respond quickly, and you can scroll through picks without digging through menus.

Betr Picks is mobile-only and has a lightweight interface built for quick slips. You get team logos, player photos, and simple-to-navigate stat categories. It’s efficient for what it does, but if you like working on a bigger screen or want to queue up multiple entries side by side, the lack of a desktop option is a drawback.

Underdog’s app features a similar scroll-and-tap style, but also includes additional contest types, such as drafts and battle royales. Navigation is clean despite the broader feature set. More importantly, you can also access everything from your desktop browser, which is a nice edge if you’re working with more complex picks or just prefer a bigger screen.

Both apps score high in app stores. Betr Picks is rated 4.7 on iOS and 4.5 on Android, while Underdog comes in at 4.8 and 4.6.

They’re both smooth to use, but Underdog gets the slight edge for giving you more screen options.

Betr Picks vs. Underdog Contest Variety – Winner: Underdog

Underdog easily takes this one. While both platforms are built around Pick’em-style entries, Underdog adds more depth with multiple contest formats that go beyond just player props.

You can still build Higher or Lower slips like you would on Betr, but Underdog also lets you enter full-scale drafts through Best Ball, Weekly Winners, and Battle Royale contests. These are traditional DFS formats with snake drafts and no roster management—your top performers are automatically scored each week.

They’ve even rolled out a new Pick’em Champions mode in some states, where you’re going head-to-head against other users instead of the house. The newest Pick'em game, Ladders, rewards you based on the lowest stat tier your entire lineup reaches, with payouts up to 100x.

Betr Picks, by comparison, sticks strictly to Pick’em. You’ve got two modes—Perfect Play, where you need to hit every pick, and Dynamic Play, which gives you partial payouts even if a pick or two misses. That’s the entire offering for now.

Betr Duels is the newest twist from Betr Picks, turning daily picks into high-stakes faceoffs between Club More and Club Less. With just $1, you’re in; just pick your side on a featured 4-player projection and watch it play out.

Winners snag the usual payout plus a cut of the growing Betr Bucks prize pool, which starts at $1,000. If there are no winners, the pot rolls forward and stacks another $1,000 for the next round.

Betr also added Group Play, a leaderboard-style mode where your entry competes against other users who submitted the same pick size. Each $1 segment is scored separately, and the highest scores on each leaderboard win cash, giving the game a more competitive feel than traditional Pick’em.

Betr has also launched its new social sportsbook, a sweeps-style extension that lets users across 25 states make free picks with virtual coins and compete for real prizes through Betr Cash.

If you’re looking for more ways to play beyond just stat predictions, Underdog clearly gives you more to work with.

Betr Picks vs. Underdog Sports Variety – Winner: Underdog

Underdog covers more ground when it comes to sports. You’ll find Pick’em options across 10+ markets, including major leagues like the NFL, NBA, and MLB, along with extras like golf, tennis, F1, college football, and even esports.

Betr Picks has a smaller selection of sports. Right now, they offer props for the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, soccer, golf, and UFC. That’s enough for most casual players, but if you’re someone who likes digging into smaller leagues or niche matchups, you’ll hit a wall pretty quickly.

For wider stat coverage and more ways to build slips across multiple sports, Underdog has the deeper bench.

Betr Picks vs. Underdog Banking – Winner: Sleeper

Underdog and Betr Picks each bring something different to the table when it comes to payments.

Betr Picks is better if you want low barriers to entry. You can deposit with just $5 and cash out with as little as $1, making it a go-to option for casual users or small-stakes players.

Underdog supports a broader range of banking options, but you’ll need to deposit and withdraw at least $10.

Deposit methods at Betr Picks:

  • Credit/debit card (Visa, Mastercard)
  • Bank transfer
  • PayPal

Deposit methods at Underdog:

  • Credit/debit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Amex)
  • PayPal
  • Apple Pay

Withdrawal options:

  • Betr: PayPal, bank transfer
  • Underdog: PayPal, bank transfer, prepaid card, physical check

Both platforms usually process withdrawals in 1–3 business days. Betr is easier to get in and out of with smaller amounts, but Underdog offers more ways to manage your money. That’s why it’s a tie in this category.

Betr Picks vs. Underdog Final Verdict – Winner: Underdog, but Both Platforms Are Great

Both apps bring plenty to the table, but if I had to pick one, Underdog gets the edge. It’s more complete overall, offering a wider mix of contest types, desktop access, stronger market depth, and broader state coverage.

That said, Betr Picks is still very much worth using. It delivers a higher payout ceiling, more beginner-friendly rules (no-push scoring), and some of the best promos in the space. I keep it installed for promo plays, flash boosts, and when I feel like chasing 10-pick slips with major upside.

If you’re into Pick’em contests, there’s no reason not to try both.
