College Football Playoff Quarterfinal Best Bets

Ohio State ML (-130) vs. Oregon – 5 pm ET on New Year’s Day (NCAAF Pick of the Week)

Ohio State and Oregon will meet for the second time this season in the Rose Bowl. The first game went down to the wire, with Oregon winning 32-31 as Ohio State ran out of time on a potential game-winning drive.

When you look at that game, Ohio State played very well in a tough road environment, with the difference in the game being a fumble that led to a short field touchdown and an onside kick that led to a short field and field goal

Both of these teams are very close offensively, but the edge on defense clearly goes to Ohio State. Ohio State also has the best defense in the nation, giving up just 242 yards per game.

Without short fields and turnovers, it will be very tough for Oregon to score enough to win this game.

The spread is Ohio State -2.5, but the money line is only -130, so the value is definitely on the moneyline.

Take Ohio State to get revenge and win the Rose Bowl straight up.

Notre Dame +1.5 vs. Georgia – 8:45 pm ET on New Year’s Day

Georgia will be without starting QB Carson Beck, which will only make scoring even harder. Especially against a Notre Dame defense ranked 8th in the nation, allowing only 295 yards and 13.8 points per game.

This is also not the same level of Georgia defense we have seen in the past. They are allowing 20.4 points per game.

Georgia will struggle to contain Notre Dame QB Riley Leonard, and they have a potent rush offense behind a very physical offensive line. Notre Dame will control the game on the ground and really limit Georgia’s scoring chances.

Without Beck, Georgia won’t score enough to keep up, and the defense isn’t good enough to get the stops they will need to win this game.

Look for Notre Dame to win and advance to the semi-final round on Wednesday night.
