Let's see if we can get back on track with 2 picks for Week 8 of the NFL season and 5 picks for Week 9 of college football.

NFL Week 8 & NCAAF Week 9 Best Bets
Virginia Tech -10 vs. Georgia Tech – 12 pm ET on ACCN
This is not a good matchup for Georgia Tech. They have allowed the third most sacks in college football this year and will be going up against a Virginia Tech defense ranked fourth in sacks on the season.
Georgia Tech QB Haynes King remains a big question mark at QB and is likely to miss another game due to injury. That will spell trouble for a Georgia Tech offense that really struggled to move the ball against Notre Dame without him. Backup QB Zach Pyron struggled, throwing 2 interceptions, and they averaged just 2.2 yards per carry.
Look for Virginia Tech to control this game. Their defense should set them up with good scoring chances as they win and cover Saturday afternoon.

Notre Dame -13.5 vs. Navy (Neutral Site Game) – 12 pm ET on ABC
Notre Dame has continued to improve since their stunning loss to Northern Illinois in September, and now they have a chance to make a big statement against a ranked Navy team.
The Navy ranking is a bit suspect, given that they have not beaten any good football teams this year. The combined record of their 5 FBS opponents this year is 13-22, with only one win against a team over .500.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame has been tested and won against top 25 teams, including Louisville and Texas A&M.
The Notre Dame roster is deeper from top to bottom, and going against the option offense is not something new for Notre Dame, as they typically play at least one of the service academy schools every year.
Getting Notre Dame at under 2 touchdowns has some great value on Saturday afternoon.

UCF -2 vs. BYU – 3:30 pm ET on ESPN
BYU is undefeated and ranked 11th in the country, yet they are getting points against a 3-4 UCF team, which immediately raises some major questions.
UCF has played a more challenging schedule and showed a lot of improvement in its 38-35 loss to Iowa State last week.
BYU QB Jake Retzlaff has struggled in conference play, averaging just 205 yards in 4 games and completing under 58% of his passes. He has also thrown 4 interceptions in those 4 conference games.
BYU opened as the favorite, and despite most of the money and tickets being bet on them, they are now the underdog.
I’m going to follow the move and play on UCF -2 on Saturday afternoon.

Texas A&M PK vs. LSU – 7:30 pm ET on ABC
Texas A&M has done very well against LSU at home recently, winning the last 3 games in College Station against the Tigers.
It is not the most ideal scheduling situation for LSU, as this is their second consecutive road game.
Both teams lost their openers and have won 6 straight since.
Statistically, the teams are very close. A&M has an edge defensively, especially since conference play started, while LSU has a slight offensive advantage.
This game will come down to the intangibles and the home field will play a big part in this one. It will be hard for LSU to operate their offense efficiently with over 100,000 fans screaming.
Look for them to get the win at home Saturday night.

NCAAF Pick of the Week: Wisconsin +6.5 vs. Penn State – 7:30 pm ET on NBC
Penn State nearly had their annual collapse begin against USC, but thanks to some questionable officiating and a missed USC field goal, they were able to escape 33-30.
Now, they go on the road for a night game at Camp Randall.
The Penn State record is unimpressive when you do a deeper dive. They have only beaten one team with a winning record (Illinois at home). Their other five wins have come against teams that have combined to go 11-24 on the season.
Wisconsin has improved as the season has gone on, especially on defense. They have won 3 in a row while allowing just 16 points. The offense has also averaged 39 points per game during that stretch.
Look for Wisconsin to keep it close Saturday night and cover the spread. Don’t be surprised if they pull off the outright win, either.

Cincinnati Bengals -2.5 vs. Philadelphia Eagles – 1 pm ET on CBS
When evaluating the Eagles' season, you need to throw out the game against the Giants. The Giants are a really bad football team, and the Eagles’ performance against them should not give anyone hope that they have miraculously solved all their problems.
The Eagles' secondary will have trouble covering a very good Bengals receiving core featuring Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
The Bengals 3-4 record is not nearly as bad as it seems. They had some injury issues to start the year and have lost close games to the Commanders, Chiefs, and Ravens—nothing to be ashamed of there.
Much like the Ravens, this is a tough scheduling spot for the Eagles. They will be on the road for the second consecutive week.
Look for the Bengals to keep their season moving in the right direction with a win and cover Sunday.

NFL Pick of the Week: Cleveland Browns +8.5 vs. Baltimore Ravens – 1 pm ET on CBS
The Browns’ losing Deshaun Watson for the season is probably the best thing that could have happened to them. Watson’s play was abysmal and clearly hindered the team. Now, they will turn to Jameis Winston, who is the better quarterback.
This is not a great scheduling spot for the Ravens. They are coming off a road Monday night game, so it is a short week to begin with, and now they have to travel for a divisional road game.
Look for the Browns offense to be improved and to be able to hang with a Ravens defense that has given up its share of points so far this season (25.7 ppg allowed, ranking 26th in the league).
Take the Browns +8.5 on Sunday afternoon.
