NFL Week 9 & NCAAF Week 10 Best Bets

Miami -20 vs. Duke – 12 pm ET on ABC

Duke is finally hitting the tough part of their schedule and has shown their hot start was clearly the product of playing lesser teams and some luck. They have 5 wins against FBS schools who have a combined record of just 15-25.

The Miami offense has been firing on all cylinders this season, scoring 36 or more points in every game.

Meanwhile, Duke has scored more than 27 points just once this year. That was against an unimpressive Middle Tennessee State team.

Look for the Miami offense to keep rolling and Duke's offense to struggle keeping up. Give me Miami to win and cover Saturday afternoon.

Michigan State +8 vs. Indiana – 3:30 pm ET on Peacock

Indiana’s 8-0 record is the product of a very soft Big Ten schedule to open the year. They have 5 conference wins against teams that have won a combined 7 conference games all season.

Meanwhile, Michigan State has been tested against some of the upper echelon of the Big Ten, including Ohio State and Oregon.

In their last home game, Michigan State was very impressive in a 32-20 win over Iowa.

Against much tougher competition, Michigan State is allowing just over 21 points per game, while Indiana is allowing just over 14 points per game against a much softer schedule.

Look for the Michigan State defense to rise to the occasion and keep this one within a score Saturday afternoon.

Michigan +14.5 vs. Oregon – 3:30 pm ET on CBS

Teams from the Big Ten have not traveled well this year, and I would expect Michigan to bring their absolute best effort against top-ranked Oregon on Saturday afternoon.

The defenses are pretty much evenly matched, with Oregon giving up 297 yards per game and Michigan allowing 329 yards per game.

Everyone knows Michigan loves to run the ball, which will shorten this game and keep them in it.

The Ducks' rushing defense is just average, allowing 123.5 yards per game, so the opportunity will be there for Michigan.

Playing in the Big House can most certainly be intimidating. Look for Michigan to hang around and keep this one within 2 scores.

Clemson -10 vs. Louisville – 7:30 pm ET on ESPN

This is a great spot for Clemson. They are coming off a bye, while Louisville will be playing in their seventh straight game and second consecutive road game.

Louisville has struggled against tougher opponents this year, losing to Miami, Notre Dame, and SMU.

Since an opening loss to Georgia, Clemson has dramatically improved. They are 6-0 and averaging 48.5 points per game.

The Louisville offense has struggled on the road this year, putting up just 26.3 points per game away from home.

That simply won’t cut it against a high-powered Clemson offense. Louisville will not be able to keep up, and Clemson will win this one by double digits.

NCAAF Pick of the Week: South Carolina +3.5 vs. Texas A&M – 7:30 pm ET on ABC

This is not a great spot for Texas A&M. They are coming off a huge win over LSU last week at home and now have to travel to face a South Carolina team that is well-rested coming off a bye week.

South Carolina is better than their record indicates. They lost at Alabama by 2 points and at home to LSU by 3 points, so they have been playing close games against some of the best teams in the SEC.

The South Carolina defensive line is very good and will be able to disrupt the Texas A&M offense.

The Aggies are on upset alert Saturday night, but I'll gladly take them as underdogs over a field goal.

Atlanta Falcons -3 vs. Dallas Cowboys – 1 pm ET on FOX

The Cowboys continue to struggle, dropping another game last week to the 49ers.

This is a tough situation for them, as they travel across the country for a second consecutive road game after playing on last Sunday night.

The Cowboys are tied for last in rushing defense and have been hit with a lot of injuries on that side of the ball. They are likely to be without star Micah Parsons again in this one.

That will be good news for the Falcons rushing attack, led by Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier.

Look for the Falcons to control this game and win by more than a field goal Sunday afternoon.

NFL Pick of the Week: Minnesota Vikings -5 vs. Indianapolis Colts – 8:20 pm ET on NBC

The Colts come into this game with a full-blown quarterback controversy. Anthony Richardson has been benched in favor of veteran Joe Flacco.

It’s not a good spot for Flacco to be stepping into, as the Vikings have the third best rush defense in the league, allowing under 84 yards per game. That will put a lot of pressure on Flacco to make things work in the passing game.

After starting the season 5-0, the Vikings have dropped two straight games but find themselves in a good situation heading into this game. They have the rest advantage, having played Thursday night last week, while the Colts will be playing on the road for a second-consecutive week.

The Colts have the 28th ranked defense in the league, giving up 379.6 yards per game.

Look for the Vikings to get back on track and win this one by at least a touchdown Sunday night.
