Bet365 originally launched in the United Kingdom in 2001 as an online gambling site offering sports betting and casino games.

The company has since partnered with the Hard Rock Casino in Atlantic City to offer sports betting to those physically located in New Jersey via their website and iOS and Android mobile apps. In January 2023, Bet365 also launched in Ohio.

Bet365 shines in many areas and lacks in some others compared to other online sportsbooks. Whether it's right for you depends on your preferences and what you like to bet on.

On the positive side, Bet365 offers some of the most competitive odds of all the sportsbooks I've reviewed. They also offer same game parlays and live updates for many games.

On the downside, Bet365's app has a lot of issues, customer reviews aren't great, and the user experience isn't the best.

This Bet365 review will go over the company's offerings in the U.S. including the types of bets and sports available, how the intro promo works and what other promotions are offered, and pros and cons of Bet365 compared to popular competitors.

Bet365 Sportsbook Quick Review

We rated Bet365 as a 4.1 out of 5, just slightly higher than “great” relative to other sportsbooks.

On the positive side, Bet365 offers some of the best odds in the industry, same game parlays, a variety of sports and bet types. In addition, the intro promo for new customers only requires a $1 bet but rewards you with $200 in free bets.

On the downside, the app and website user experience isn't the best, there are limited odds boosts, and there are many poor customer reviews.

If you don't mind the user experience and don't have problems with the app, Bet365 is a solid choice for sports betting in NJ thanks to their industry-leading odds.

Bet365 Intro Promo

The Bet365 intro promo is a deposit match of up to $500. There is no promo code required, but you must claim the offer from the My Offers page.

Here's how to get the Bet365 intro promo:

  1. Make a deposit of $10 or more
  2. Claim the intro promo by going to Services –> My Offers –> Claim Now
  3. Bet365 will match your deposit with site credit
  4. As you bet your initial cash deposit on events with -500 or longer odds (-110, +150, +300, etc.), the site credit will be released into your account
    1. Bets must be settled within 30 days of claiming the intro promo
    2. Any bet credits will be forfeited if your account is inactive for 90 days

How it stacks up

Bet365's intro promo is one of the best betting offers currently available for a few reasons.

First, since it is a deposit match, you receive it regardless of how your initial bet(s) perform, unlike a risk-free bet that only gives you the site credit if your first bet loses.

Second, the value of $500 is much higher than the $250, $100, and $50 that many other sportsbooks offer.

While Bet365's intro bonus isn't the very best currently available (see Caesars and PointsBet), it's much better than what most sportsbooks offer and is definitely worth taking advantage of.

Bet365 Odds Competitiveness

To figure out how competitive Bet365's odds are compared to other sportsbooks, we sampled a number of games for all major sports. It's worth noting that Bet365 is one of the best NFL betting sites, best college football betting sites, and best college basketball betting sites.

Bet365 usually offers the standard -110 odds on spread and total bets, as well as competitive moneyline odds.

Though Bet365 offers some of the best odds of all U.S. sportsbooks, it's always a smart move to use a few sportsbooks so you can shop around for the best odds on the games you are interested in.

Bet365 Odds Boosts & Promos

Bet365 typically has ongoing promotions for all users to take advantage of outside of the intro promo for new customers. Though some of these promotions allow you to boost odds on certain bets, Bet365 doesn't offer “odds boosts” like other books do.

Here's a quick look at each:

Odds Boosts

Unlike most online sportsbooks, Bet365 doesn't have a specific odds boosts section where they increase the odds on certain games each day.

They do, however, typically have bonuses in the “Offers” section of the site that allow you to boost the odds on certain bets—especially parlays.

As of this writing, for example, Bet365 has 70% boosts on tennis parlays and multi-sport parlays.

Promotions

Aside from the parlay boosts and intro bonus, Bet365 also has some other promotions for customers to take advantage of. Here are some examples of promos that Bet365 has currently running or has run in the past:

  • Early payout offer: If your team goes up by a certain number of points, your individual bets and that leg of parlays including that game will be marked as winners (NBA = 20 points, NHL = 3 goals, NCAA BB = 18 points, Soccer = 2 goals).
  • No score tie offer: Get your money back if a soccer match you bet on ends with no score.
  • Soccer substitute guarantee: If a player you placed a player prop wager on is substituted before half-time in a soccer game, get your money back in site credit.

Types of Bets Bet365 Accepts

Like most sportsbooks, Bet365 offers many types of sports bets including:

Live betting

Bet365 also offers live betting on most markets including football, baseball, basketball, hockey, and more.

With many games, you also have the option to cash out your bet early if you'd like. This is especially helpful for parlays where multiple legs have already hit and you don't want to risk losing on the last game or two.

Same game parlays

In the last year or so, “same game parlays” have become very popular after major sportsbooks—such as FanDuel—started offering them.

So does Bet365 offer them?

Yes! Bet365 does offer same game parlays.

Unlike most other sportsbooks, Bet365 allows you to combine side, total, and moneyline bets with player and game props. Most books just allow you to bet a side and total (such as Eagles -6.5 & Under 45.5) but with Bet365 you can combine props as well.

To place a same game parlay, use the “Parlay Builder” function of the site or app.

Signing Up for Bet365 Sportsbook

You don’t have to be a resident of one of the states where Bet365 operates to sign up for the sportsbook, but you must be located in one of the states to place bets. The only other restriction is that you must be at least 21 years old.

To sign up for an account, you’ll have to fill out some basic information including:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Last 4 digits of Social Security number
  • Email

  • Security code
  • Time zone
  • Odds display preference

After filling out this information, you may be asked to upload a government-issued ID (such as a driver’s license or passport) to verify your identity.

The whole process is quick and easy and should only take a few minutes.

You can get an idea of what the registration screen looks like in the following screenshots from the Bet365 website (click the images to expand). The mobile app has a similar sign-up experience, but it doesn't matter which you sign-up on.

Bet365 Deposit & Withdrawal Methods

Another spot where Bet365 shines is the variety of deposit and withdrawal methods available to you. You can deposit and withdraw money from any location—even if you are outside of New Jersey or Ohio.

Note that Bet365 does not charge any fees for depositing or withdrawing money but your bank or credit card provider may.

For all methods, the minimum deposit amount is $10 while the minimum withdrawal amount ranges from $5 to $10 depending on the method.

Bet365 App & Website Experience

You can bet through Bet365 through its website or mobile app (iOS & Android). The app/website will verify your location to ensure you are located in New Jersey or Ohio. You may be required to download an application to your computer to help verify your location to use the website.

Note that you don’t have to be a resident of NJ to use the app; you just must be physically located there to place wagers.

User Experience

Now let's take a look at the user experience of the Bet365 app and website. We'll dive into the mobile app first then take a look at the desktop site, both of which are very similar.

Bet365 Mobile App

Overall, I don't particularly like the user experience of the Bet365 app.

Design-wise, I find the gray-based theme a bit hard to read compared to other books that use a white or black background with highly contrasting text.

In addition, it's not intuitive that the odds shown for spread, totals, and moneyline wagers are buttons since they are all just in one box with no real separation.

In terms of menus, the one at the top that highlights popular sports and other options is pretty helpful. It makes it easy to jump to the part of the app that you need. The bottom menu let's you quickly jump back to the homepage (“Sports” button), see games currently in-play, and search the app.

The bet slip functionality is pretty straightforward. Once you select a bet, it will go to the bet slip that will pop up towards the bottom of the screen. From there, you can decide to place straight bets and/or parlays. Unfortuanately, it doesn't seem like you can place teasers or round robins automatically from the bet slip.

See the Stability section below to learn about some other problems of the Bet365 app outside of the design.

Here are some screenshots of the app that can help you get a better idea of what it looks like (click to expand):

Bet365 Website

You'll notice that the Bet365 Sportsbook website and mobile app have the same basic design and sections. Some of the menus are moved around to fit better on the larger screen. The list of sports and popular sections of the site, for example, are listed on the left sidebar which is pretty convenient for navigating to parts of the site quickly.

You can switch the default odds display at the footer of the site—something that took me a bit to figure out. The default odds are Fractional (such as 5/1) but I prefer American (+500). You also have the choice between Decimal and American/Fractional.

One of the things I dislike about the full Bet365 website is that you still have to click into the bet slip to see your current selections. A lot of alternative sportsbooks sticky the bet slip to the right sidebar that makes it easy to see what you currently have selected as well as the odds.

On the bright side, it seems that many of the problems with the app (see the next section) aren't relevant to the website.

Stability

The biggest complaint of Bet365 customers is the instability of the mobile app.

There are many complaints of the app crashing, getting logged out frequently, and having problems with verifying location, even when the user is not near the NJ border.

While this may get better over time, it's definitely worth considering when choosing which sportsbook to use. It can be extremely frustrating to try placing wagers on the Bet365 app just to be logged out constantly or having the app crash.

The website seems to be more stable, in my experience. I haven't had any problems with it glitching or logging me out like many mobile app users have noted.

Bet365 Customer Reviews

As mentioned above, the Bet365 app has poor customer reviews compared to alternatives. In the Apple App Store, for example, the main app has 3.0 stars from 216 ratings, with half being 1-star reviews. On Trustpilot, Bet365 has a 1.3 rating out of 5 from 1,966 reviews.

While there are certainly customer who are happy with the Bet365 app experience, there are some common complaints that continually pop up in reviews including:

  • Constantly getting logged out even when leaving the app momentarily
  • Trouble with the location verification
  • Lack of biometric login availability (Touch ID, Face ID, etc.)
  • App crashing or glitching out
  • Poor customer service
  • Having maximum bet amount restricted (to $20 in many cases) after placing many large bet

Bet365 Educational & Responsible Gaming Resources

Like any form of gambling, there is always a risk of losing your money when sports betting—especially if you don't fully understand how it works. In addition, gambling addiction is a serious problem that is easier to fall into than most people realize.

For that reason, when rating sportsbooks, I considered what kind of educational resources they provide and what responsible gambling resources and limits they have in place.

Educational resources

In my research, I couldn't find a good guide on how betting works on the Bet365 site or app. Many other sportsbooks have guides that explain the different types of bets, in general, as well as sport-specific guides that go over what bettors need to know.

There are sport rules guides that go over details of specific terms and conditions for each sport, but these don't really explain how betting works.

There is a FAQ section on the Bet365 site and app that goes over more of how the site/app work such as making deposits and withdraws, verifying your account, and how to place a bet.

One spot where Bet365 stands out in terms of educational resources is the statistics database. By clicking the “Sports Stats” button in the footer (bottom) or the website or mobile app, you can see historical team performance, standings, head-to-head records, and more.

Checking these statistics before placing wagers can help you make more educated decisions when it comes to betting. While bookmakers do factor in current team form and performance, the more info you have when placing wagers, the better.

I couldn't find any statistics for players anywhere in the app or website—just teams. I've found it rare for sportsbooks to offer player-specific statistics, but a few do.

Responsible gaming resources & limits

Bet365 has a Responsible Gaming page that is always accessible from the top of your screen, no matter if you are using the app or website.

This guide goes over how Bet365 protects minors and links to resources where people can find help if they are facing gambling addiction.

Bet365 also gives you the option to place limits on your betting to help you gamble responsibly. Here is a quick overview of each of the limits Bet365 offers:

  • Deposit limits. Limits how much you can deposit to your account in a daily, weekly, or monthly time period.
  • Spend limits. Limits how much you can wager on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
  • Session limits. Limits how much time you can spend in the app or website in a single day.
  • Time-out. Take a break from using Bet365 for 72 hours, 7 days, or 30 days.
  • Self-exclusion. Block yourself from betting with Bet365 for a period of 1 year, 5 years, or permanently.
If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, you can also call 1-800-GAMBLER to get help.

Bet365 Sportsbook Alternatives

There's a lot to like with Bet365 including great odds, a competitive intro promo, and the ability to bet on same game parlays.

There are, however, some Bet365 alternatives that may be a better fit for you depending on what you're looking for. Here are some options to consider:

  • If you want a better overall sportsbook: FanDuel
  • If you want a better intro promo: PointsBet
  • Another great option to consider: BetMGM
