The FanDuel vs. DraftKings debate kicked off in the early 2010s when they first launched DFS. That competition hasn’t gone anywhere. As both giants dove into sports betting, their rivalry intensified, making for some interesting showdowns in the states they set up shop.

Before we dig in, we’d like to point out that it makes sense to use both instead of just choosing one. That way, you harness the best of their promo deals, compare odds and lines, and access their unique betting markets. Pinning one against the other is a tough call as each brings its unique set of strengths to the sports betting table.

This DraftKings vs. FanDuel comparison goes over where each platform shines, helping you tap into their distinct advantages as the situation demands.

In a side-by-side showdown between the two sportsbook titans, FanDuel edges out DraftKings with a superior welcome bonus, better parlay boosts, a smoother mobile experience including for same game parlays, faster payouts, higher maximum win cap, and a broader selection of alternate lines for futures and game totals.

Meanwhile, DraftKings outperforms FanDuel with wider sports coverage, a better loyalty program, more impactful daily odds boosts, stronger micro-betting offerings, and a more extensive set of features.

In terms of pricing, market depth, banking options, state availability, and overall promo bang for your buck, it's a dead heat between the two.

We rated FanDuel Sportsbook as 5 stars out of 5 and DraftKings Sportsbook as 4.8 stars. This means if you’re just looking for the best overall sportsbook, then FanDuel is a better option than DraftKings in our opinion.

Winner: TIED between FanDuel and DraftKings

FanDuel vs. DraftKings Odds Competitiveness – Winner: Tie

When it comes to the competitiveness of odds, we rated FanDuel as 5 out of 5 and DraftKings as 5 out of 5.

To come up with these ratings, we analyzed hundreds of games in all major sports and leagues to find which books, on average, give customers the best deals.

If you’re looking for the most competitive odds, overall, then FanDuel and DraftKings are pretty much equal according to our data.

Whether FanDuel or DraftKings offers better odds really depends on the specific bet and game in question, as it shifts on a game-by-game basis. There are moments FanDuel offers a smidge better on specific markets, and then DraftKings inches ahead in others.

For instance, in the upcoming NFL season, FD presented better value for those betting on the second and third favorites for the Super Bowl, while DK had the edge for those backing the fourth and fifth favorites. As for spread and moneyline odds, both platforms are relatively even.

Winner: TIED between FanDuel and DraftKings

FanDuel vs. DraftKings  Promotions & Odds Boosts – Winner: FanDuel

When it comes to ongoing promotions and odds boosts that all customers can take advantage of, we rated FanDuel Sportsbook as 5 stars and DraftKings Sportsbook as 4.5 stars. FanDuel is a better option than DraftKings in our opinion.

Odds boosts and promotions vary from sport to sport, so check with each to see which offers better specials on the sports you care about the most.

While both platforms boast a robust lineup of promotions, FanDuel has the edge in dishing out more promotional cash. Each of them has parlay boosts for major sports, but FanDuel steps up by including boosts for less prominent leagues like soccer and the WNBA. Plus, FanDuel typically provides more insurance bet options.

On the flip side, DraftKings' referral bonus might offer a higher limit, but it demands a larger deposit to fully capitalize on it.

Winner: FanDuel

FanDuel vs. DraftKings User Interface – Winner: FanDuel

We rated the FanDuel Sportsbook user interface as 5 stars and DraftKings Sportsbook as 4.5 stars.

While most legitimate online sportsbooks in the U.S. are similarly designed and are easy enough to navigate, there are small things here and there that can make using one much more enjoyable than the other.

Both apps are widely praised for their user experience, with both boasting a 4.8 rating on App Store. But when you slide over to Google Play, FanDuel has a slight edge with a 4.7 rating, just a notch above DraftKings' 4.6.

When it comes to data density on their iOS apps, FanDuel takes the lead. You can catch a glance at four games on a single screen, whereas DraftKings only showcases two markets simultaneously. This might not be a game-changer for everyone, but for those who crave efficiency, it's a noteworthy distinction.

In terms of aesthetics, it comes down to the bettor’s preferences. FanDuel rocks a crisp blue-and-white design, whereas DraftKings goes for a moodier vibe with its black, green, and white shades.

The interface setups differ subtly between the two. DraftKings employs a double-tiered horizontal menu for betting, and once a bet type is picked, all related odds are laid out, meaning you might find yourself scrolling a tad more.

FanDuel, on the other hand, uses a single horizontal menu. The odds are then grouped in vertical tabs, which stay out of view until summoned. Once you bring up a specific bet type's odds on FanDuel, it displays in a manner akin to DK, making the overall browsing feel quite parallel. Oddly enough, DK has a toggle feature for Same Game Parlays, which felt somewhat redundant to us.

In terms of stability, both apps hold their own, though they aren't without their occasional glitches. A slightly higher number of users have noted issues with DraftKings, citing outages, geolocation snags, and parlay betting hiccups. Meanwhile, FanDuel hasn't been immune to criticism either, especially with some punters venting about the notorious ‘bet rejected' bug on various forums.

We found FanDuel sportsbook a bit more easy to use and cosmetically pleasing. Loading speed is impressive on both apps.

Before registering, it may be worth downloading both apps or visiting their websites to see which you like better.

Winner: FanDuel by a small margin

FanDuel vs. DraftKings Bet Types – Winner: DraftKings

Almost all major sportsbooks offer all of the main types of sports bets, including spreads, totals, moneyline bets, parlays, teasers, props, and futures, as well as live betting and cashing out of bets early.

As far as market depth, the two sportsbooks are level, with both offering an insane range of game and player props for major sports. FanDuel throws a curveball with some slick bets like the NBA's 1st FT attempt, the first NFL team to hit five shots on target, and a deep lineup of pitcher props in the MLB.

DraftKings counters with its own flavor, offering unique wagers on things like MLB pitch speeds, head-to-head player matchups in the NBA, and a solid roster of goalie bets for hockey bettors. FanDuel offers more alternate lines for spreads and totals.

For NFL futures, both apps have their unique offerings. At DK, they provide odds for each team's potential outcomes, like missing the playoffs, bowing out in the wild-card round, or falling short in the Conference Championship game. Conversely, FanDuel focuses on individual record pursuits, offering odds on potential record-smashing feats such as most passing yards, TDs, or defensive sacks within a season.

Both FanDuel and DraftKings cover 18+ sports.

FanDuel was the first sportsbook to offer same game parlays and still has the best user experience for them, in our opinion. Whereas DraftKings requires you to toggle on Same Game Parlays, FanDuel just lets you add whatever markets you want to your slip in a SGP. You also can't see the odds on individual markets when you add them to a SGP, something that makes it harder to figure out where you're getting value.

FanDuel also recently rolled out the SGP+ feature, which lets bettors combine picks from one game with results from another, while DK only offers the basic version of SGP. DraftKings brings to the table the Quick SGP feature, a parlay builder that auto-creates a 3-leg SGP according to the bettor's odds preference.

DraftKings' Stats Hub is another notable offering, granting bettors a deeper dive into game statistics for each bet type. It occasionally throws in insightful betting trends, like a tidbit from an MLB clash between the Phillies and Twins: Nick Castellanos has notched a hit in 13 consecutive appearances.

FanDuel offers live streaming via FanDuel TV+ platform, while DraftKings offers live streaming via its DraftKings Network service.

Overall, while both sportsbooks boast impressive market depth, DraftKings pulls slightly ahead with more enhanced features.

Winner: DraftKings, but just by a hair

FanDuel vs. DraftKings Deposits & Withdrawals – Winner: FanDuel

Having a variety of methods to deposit money into your account and to transfer your money out of it is another important thing when it comes to finding the best sportsbook.

We rated FanDuel Sportsbook's banking options as 5 and DraftKings Sportsbook's as 5 stars.

FanDuel Sportsbook offers 9 deposit methods and the minimum deposit amount is $10. It also has 6 online withdrawal methods and the minimum withdrawal is $1+.

DraftKings Sportsbook offers 8 deposit methods and the minimum deposit amount is $5. It also has 5 online withdrawal methods and the minimum withdrawal is $1 – $15.

FanDuel and DraftKings provide a comparable spread of banking options but with distinct variations. For instance, FanDuel includes PayNearMe and Apple Pay in their lineup, which DraftKings lacks. Meanwhile, DraftKings brings ACH for deposits to the table, an option not available at FanDuel.

The edge goes to FanDuel due to its swifter cash out processing time (up to 48 hours versus DraftKings' minimum of 2-4 days). Additionally, FanDuel boasts a slightly broader spread of banking options.

Winner: FanDuel
