Important Information About the PointsBet IL Intro Promo

  • PointsBetting vs. Fixed Odds. The PointsBet Second Chance Bets are only eligible for fixed odds bets, not PointsBetting bets. PointsBetting is PointsBet’s unique betting system that allows you to win or lose more money depending on how far off the result is from what you chose. For example, if you bet the Broncos -6.5 and they end up winning by 10, you would win more than you would if they only won by 7. A fixed-odds bet is a standard bet and the payouts don’t change based on the result.
  • Time to use Second Chance Bets. When you place your first bet, that is considered your first Second Chance Bet and is Day 1 of your 10 days of Second Chance Bets. Each day after that, your first bet for that day is considered the Second Chance Bet, but if you don't place any bet that day, you forfeit the bonus.
  • Time to Use Bonus Bets. You must use the bet credits (if you get them) within 7 days. This may sound like a short period, but it’s more than enough to explore the operator's various sports and betting markets.
  • Playthrough Requirement. There is only a 1x rollover requirement on the PointsBet bet credits, so you only need to wager them once before you can cash out the winnings generated from them. Note that you’ll only be able to withdraw the winnings stemming from bonus bets since the stake will be deducted from the total sum.
  • Eligible markets. There don’t seem to be any restrictions on either the second chance or bet credits in terms of odds or eligible markets.

PointsBet Illinois Quick Review

PointsBet Illinois is tied for first of all of the IL sportsbooks we’ve analyzed.

The ten second chance bets of $100 each is one of the best intro promos currently available in IL.  PointsBet Illinois also regularly offers generous ongoing promotions and odds boosts.

The unique PointsBetting system adds a unique twist to sports betting that is otherwise pretty much standardized across Illinois. PointsBet has a nice user interface on both the app and website, and they allow you to bet on all majors sports and leagues.

The only category that we don't rate PointsBet as 5 stars is Deposits & Withdrawals—which it ranks as 4 stars (or “Great”)—because it doesn't have some of the same options as competing books.

Overall, PointsBet Illinois is a great option for bettors in The Prairie State.

PointsBet Illinois Odds Competitiveness

PointsBet regularly offers the most competitive odds for all sports that we've analyzed.

You can expect to see the standard -110 odds on most spread and total bets as well as competitive moneyline odds. You can learn more about how to read betting odds here.

Still, it's always smart to use at least a few sportsbooks so you can shop around for the best odds. This doesn't take much time but is important to become a profitable sports bettor over time.

PointsBet IL Odds Boosts, Promotions, & Rewards Program

The second chance bets for new customres on PointsBet are just the beginning, as the operator features a full scope of other exciting promotions, including odds boosts, same game parlays, partial cashouts, and more.

Odds Boosts

Branded as Booster Odds, these promotions will give you enhanced odds on featured markets every week. Enter the Booster Odds Hub, and you’ll see all currently active markets where you can use this promotion.

You can find boosted odds on almost all major sports and markets—from golf tournament futures to the method of victory in a blockbuster UFC fight.

Promotions

As for ongoing and recurring promotions, here’s what you can commonly find in the PointsBet promo catalog.

  • Live Same Game Parlay. Apart from combining markets from the same game before the match, you can also do it live on specified sports. This promotion was available during the 2022 NBA Playoffs.
  • Partial Cash Out. This promo allows you to pull out from a bet partially, meaning that you can receive a portion of your stake back, leaving the rest to finish the wager.
  • Name a Bet. If you have an idea of what you can bet on during an event and don’t see it on the list of markets, you can ask for it to be added. Just make sure to submit your market request early enough so that the bookmakers can create the odds on time.

Rewards Program

PointsBet Rewards is the operator’s rewards program available to every account holder. Each time you place a bet, you’ll get a chance to earn points. The principle is simple—the more you bet, the more points you will receive.

Players earn one point for every $5 wagered on fixed-odds betting, every $1 wagered on parlays, and every $1 won or lost on PointsBetting. In addition, 100 points will get you $1 worth of bonus bets, but you must collect at least 250 points to redeem them.

PointsBet Illinois Sports Offered

PointsBet Illinois covers all the major sports, including football, basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer, tennis, boxing, and MMA, together with a few niche sports, such as darts, cricket, Aussie rules football, and Rugby Union.

You can bet on all your favorite Illinois pro teams, including the Bears, Bulls, Cubs, White Sox, Blackhawks, and Chicago Fire.

PointsBet Sportsbook Illinois Types of Bets

PointsBetting is what distinguishes PointsBet from its competitors, but if you’re not too fond of this form of betting, you can always opt for fixed-odds betting and enjoy all the standard types of bets this operator offers as well (including but not limited to):

You’ve heard us mention PointsBetting multiple times throughout this review, but you’re maybe wondering what exactly it is and how it works.

To start with, PointsBetting is a unique form of betting exclusive to the PointsBet sportsbook. As a result, you won’t find it on other Illinois betting sites.

It allows you to win more money depending on the final outcome of the game. For instance, if you’ve taken the Bulls to win at -5 and they win the game by 10, you’ll win more money than if they won only by 6.

However, this is a two-edged sword, as you can also lose more if the score goes off the line in the other direction. You can also set a limit on your wins and losses for a specific wager, so your bet does not have to be riskier than you would like.

You can also find betting on collegiate games on PointsBet. However, note that Illinois law prohibits mobile betting on in-state college teams. Still, betting on local teams is allowed in person at retail sportsbooks.

PointsBet IL Live Betting

Just like most major sportsbooks, PointsBet also offers live betting. You can enjoy betting on almost every event live, with real-time odds and dozens of markets from start to finish.

Apart from all the regular markets, which are also available pre-game, live betting includes a few specific options as well, such as period betting, the next team to score, the time of the next point/goal, and more.

You can find the live betting options by selecting Live from the menu in the top left corner (desktop) or In Play at the bottom of the screen (mobile app).

PointsBet IL Same Game Parlays

PointsBet gives bettors the opportunity to combine markets from the same game on a single slip through the feature called same game parlays. This option was popularized by FanDuel but was soon added by other major U.S. operators, including PointsBet.

For instance, you can combine the spread, over/under, and a player prop from the same exact football game. To find this option, look for the Same Game Parlay tab once you’ve selected a game. Still, note that these parlays are mostly available for popular competitions and major American leagues.

PointsBet also features live same game parlays on certain events, which allows you to combine live markets instead of just pre-game ones.

Signing Up for PointsBet Illinois

You don’t have to be a resident of one of the states where PointsBet operates to sign up, but you must be located in one to place bets. The only other restriction is that you must be at least 21 years old.

To sign up for an account, you’ll have to fill out some basic information including:

  • Name
  • Email
  • Date of birth
  • Last 4 digits of Social Security number
  • Phone number
  • Address
  • Password

After filling out this information, you may be asked to upload a government-issued ID (such as a driver’s license or passport) to verify your identity.

The whole process is quick and easy and should only take a few minutes. You can get an idea of what the registration screen looks like in the following mobile app screenshots (click to expand):

PointsBet Illinois Deposit & Withdrawal Methods

PointsBet may lack some popular payment options, but a few of the major ones are there, including debit and credit cards and PayPal. Illinois is also one of the three states where deposits and withdrawals on PointsBet can be made via cash at one of the retail locations in the Chicago area.

The minimum deposit is just $5, which is good news for casual bettors, as they will usually face deposit limits of $10 or more on other sportsbooks. Maximum limits vary depending on the method. Some payment options, like PayPal, have no max limit at all.

Withdrawal requests may take up to two days to be cleared, after which you can expect the money to arrive in a few hours or days—again, depending on the method.

PointsBet IL Sportsbook User Experience

You can bet on PointsBet IL through a desktop website or an iOS and Android mobile app. The two look slightly different, but they are both characterized by great functionality and user experience.

Mind you—while playing on a desktop, you’ll have to install the Player Location Check, a software produced by GeoComply, which confirms you are in Illinois or one of the locations where PointsBet is allowed.

PointsBet IL Website Experience

PointsBet has a neatly designed website that allows you to find everything within a few clicks. On the homepage, you’ll see featured, live, and upcoming events immediately, alongside a few popular betting markets for each.

The top left corner is where you’ll see the menu, which will lead you to a list of sports, promotions, app download pages, and more. On the opposite side of it, you'll find links to your account, the cashier, and the current betting slip. The bottom of the page contains technical pages, licensing information, and live chat support.

PointsBet IL Mobile App Experience

Although it looks a bit different, the PointsBet mobile app has all the features of the desktop site and does equally well in terms of user experience. One of the major differences, though, is that the menu is placed at the bottom, showing shortcuts to Sports, In Play, Quick Parlay, and My Bets.

As you tap on the markets, they are added to your slip, which can be accessed with a single move of your finger. Once you open the bet slip, you can choose to wager your selections as straights, a parlay, or a round-robin. While browsing the games, you’ll see tables separating fixed-odds betting from PointsBetting, while selected games might also have the Same Game Parlay tab.

The app works flawlessly on both Android and iOS devices. Everything loads quickly, and it’s unlikely that you’ll experience any crashes.
