PointsBet originally started in Australia but came to the United States when the government repealed PASPA in 2018. Today, PointsBet operates in many states that legalized sports betting—including Michigan.

In this guide, you can learn about using the PointsBet Michigan promo code to get the sign-up bonus, how the promo works, and everything you need to know to decide whether PointsBet MI is the right Michigan sportsbook for you.

PointsBet Michigan Promo Code & Sign-Up Bonus

The PointsBet Michigan sign-up bonus for new customers is ten Second Chance Bets of $100 each. There is no PointsBet MI promo code required while signing up to receive the sign-up offer.

You have 7 days to use each bet credit once it hits your account and there are no odds restrictions on what you're allowed to bet.

Important Information About the PointsBet MI Intro Promo

PointsBet has one of the best intro promos in Michigan. Here are some details to keep in mind when using it:

  • PointsBetting vs. Fixed Odds. The PointsBet Second Chance Bets are only eligible for fixed odds bets, not PointsBetting bets. PointsBetting is PointsBet’s unique betting system that allows you to win or lose more money depending on how far off the result is from what you chose. For example, if you bet the Broncos -6.5 and they end up winning by 10, you would win more than you would if they only won by 7. A fixed-odds bet is a standard bet and the payouts don’t change based on the result.
  • Time to use Second Chance Bets. When you place your first bet, that is considered your first Second Chance Bet and is Day 1 of your 9 days of Second Chance Bets. Each day after that, your first bet for that day is considered the Second Chance Bet, but if you don't place any bet that day, you forfeit the bonus.
  • Time to Use Bonus Bets. You must use the bet credits (if you get them) within 7 days. This may sound like a short period, but it’s more than enough to explore the operator's various sports and betting markets.
  • Playthrough Requirement. There is only a 1x rollover requirement on the PointsBet bet credits, so you only need to wager them once before you can cash out the winnings generated from them. Note that you’ll only be able to withdraw the winnings stemming from bonus bets since the stake will be deducted from the total sum.
  • Eligible markets. There don’t seem to be any restrictions on either the second chance or bet credits in terms of odds or eligible markets.

PointsBet Michigan Review

PointsBet is an Australian sportsbook that has made significant waves in the U.S. Its foray into the United States began in January 2019 when it launched in NJ via a partnership with Meadowlands Racetrack.

This company has since expanded its footprint nationwide and is now a major player in New Jersey, Colorado, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Illinois, Indiana, New York, Michigan, and more states.

In Michigan, PointsBet is affiliated with Northern Waters Casino in Watersmeet and runs a betting lounge there. It has been operating in the Wolverine State since January 2021.

PointsBet MI is tied as our top-rated Michigan sportsbook—scoring well in every category we analyze.

PointsBet’s biggest claim to fame is its proprietary betting system, PointsBetting, exclusive to the brand. It’s a form of spread betting where the payouts/losses are not fixed and are determined by the wager's accuracy. This makes it highly risky and potentially highly lucrative.

Another selling point is the welcome bonus, which is unique in that it's split over 10 days and provides great value. Also, PointsBet offers great odds boost and delivers excellent UX on both desktop and mobile.

Overall, PointsBet is one of the best options for bettors in Michigan. It has a great welcome offer, valuable odds boosts and other ongoing promotions, an intuitive user experience, and much more to like.

PointsBet Michigan Odds Competitiveness

PointsBet regularly offers the most competitive odds for all sports that we've analyzed.

You can expect to see the standard -110 odds on most spread and total bets as well as competitive moneyline odds. You can learn more about how to read betting odds here.

Still, it's always smart to use at least a few sportsbooks so you can shop around for the best odds. This doesn't take much time but is important to become a profitable sports bettor over time.

PointsBet MI Odds Boosts, Promotions, & Rewards Program

As an existing customer at PointsBet, you can squeeze out a lot of promotional value via reduced juice deals, second chance bets, insurance bets, and regular odds boosts. Furthermore, you can earn additional rewards from the sportsbook's loyalty program.

Here’s a closer look at PointsBet’s ongoing promotions:

PointsBet MI Odds Boosts

Much like FanDuel, DraftKings, and many other heavy hitters in Michigan, PointsBet offers daily odds boosts, which are referred to as Booster Odds. You can access them through a tab listed on the left-hand side under Featured.

Typically, you'll see around 4 to 6 odds boosts per day, mainly on major sports. The boosts are in the 10% to 20% range, in line with other books. Generally, odds enhancements are higher for riskier bets. For example, PointsBet raised the odds on a particular NBA prop combo from +310 to +360.

PointsBet also offers odds boosts for college basketball and soccer, as well as premade parlays.

PointsBet MI Promotions

PointsBet Michigan runs an impressive lineup of seasonal promotions, which you can use when you exhaust the welcome bonus. Here are a few examples of what you may find:

  • Refer-a-friend promo: For each friend you bring in, you’ll receive $100. You can get up to $2,500 per year this way.
  • Parlay boosts: You can receive a profit boost on your 3+ leg parlay each day. There’s also a parlay insurance bonus where you’ll get a refund if one of your selections from the slip loses.
  • No Juice promotions: Now and then, PointsBet serves No Juice lines on major sports. For example, the sportsbook offered +100 on all NFL spreads for the entire season.

PointsBet MI Rewards Program

With the PointsBet loyalty program, you earn points when placing real-money fixed-odds or PointsBetting wagers. After accumulating a sufficient quantity of points, you can redeem them for bonus bets.

The accumulation rate varies by bet type, as follows:

  • $5 wagered on fixed-odds single bets = 1 point
  • $1 wagered on fixed-odds parlays = 1 point
  • $1 wagered on PointsBetting = 1 point

You can redeem your reward points once you have collected 250 points or more. For every 100 points earned, you can get $1 in bonus bets.

PointsBet MI Sports Offered

Sports Offered

Sports Not Offered

PointsBet’s market selection is as diverse as they get. It has odds on all the mainstream sports in North America in addition to college sports, minor leagues, and international events.

When it comes to betting on Michigan-based teams, you won’t miss a beat with PointsBet. The sportsbook has year-round coverage of all local pro teams, including:

  • Detroit Lions: More than 100 markets are available for every NFL matchup. Plus, you’ll find a range of futures markets, some of which aren’t available elsewhere. For instance, you can bet on the Lions to make/miss the playoffs before the season starts or bet on how many regular-season wins they’ll have in the upcoming NFL campaign.
  • Detroit Red Wings: On average, PointsBet offers 70 to 80 wagers on NHL games. PointsBet is one of the select sportsbooks that offer teasers for NHL spreads and totals. On top of this, you’ll find period bets and all kinds of player props. In the futures department, you’ll find odds for the Red Wings to win the Stanley Cup or the Atlantic Division.
  • Detroit Tigers: A popular individual-award MLB futures bet in PointsBet is Most Regular Season Pitcher Wins. There are 45+ wagers for individual games, including standard bets, first X innings, and game props.
  • Detroit Pistons: With 120+ wagers on individual games, the NBA is the most comprehensively covered market in PointsBet. The sportsbook tends to get creative when it comes to game props. For instance, you can bet on the winners of specific segments of quarters (ex: Q1 12:00-08:01) or bet on the Pistons to reach the 100-point threshold first.

PointsBet Michigan Types of Bets

With PointsBet, you can bet on standard wagers and many creative props and futures that are hard to find anywhere else. Here’s the complete list of bets you can make:

In-state college betting is permitted in Michigan, so most of these bets are available for local college football and hoops teams such as the University of Michigan and Michigan State.

PointsBet MI Live Betting

Live betting on PointsBet is available for pretty much every event. However, it’s especially popular for football, basketball, hockey, and baseball games, covering a ton of special live markets such as period betting, race to points, next team to score, and more.

To see all the games and matches currently taking place, simply click on the menu in the top left corner and select Live, or tap the In Play button at the bottom of your mobile screen if you’re using the app.

If you’re indecisive on whether you should request an early cashout or wait things out, PointsBet allows for partial cashouts, something that is very unique (and very cool).

PointsBet MI Same Game Parlays

Following in the footsteps of FanDuel and other U.S. sportsbooks that popularized this option, PointsBet has made it possible to bet on the same game parlays.

These allow you to combine sides, totals, props, and other bets from the same game onto a single slip.

Unfortunately, this option is not available for every game or every sport, and you can only use it on games that have the same game parlay tab.

Signing Up for PointsBet Michigan

You don’t have to be a resident of one of the states where PointsBet operates to sign up, but you must be located in one to place bets. The only other restriction is that you must be at least 21 years old.

PointsBet Michigan Sportsbook User Experience

PointsBet utilizes a black and red theme and a sleek design. The layout is intuitively organized, providing easy access to betting and additional functionalities.

The hamburger menu in the top left corner opens the betting catalog and the Promo tab. In the sidebar, you’ll find buttons for the in-play lobby as well as PointsBet’s signature features—quick parlay and Name a Bet. Everything loads up quickly, and the platform holds up well stability-wise.

This is also true for the iOS and Android mobile apps, which you can download directly via the sportsbook’s site or the respective store. When you access the site via your mobile browser, tap the Download App button on the left; the system will automatically adapt to your OS and display the corresponding version of the app.

PointsBet MI Website Experience

We have no complaints about the user experience on the PointsBet website. The site has a slick dark design and doesn’t overwhelm users with large banners and hundreds of buttons. Everything is simple, and to the point, so even beginner bettors can work their way around finding their targeted sports and markets or information about promotions.

PointsBet MI Mobile App Experience

PointsBet mobile app looks slightly different from the website, with all changes made with limited screen size in mind. The main menu is at the bottom, alongside shortcuts to Sports, In Play, Quick Parlay, and My Bets.

Adding bets to your slip is effortless, and once the bet slip pops up, you can choose how to handle your multiple selections (single bets, parlay, round-robin).

Each game you tap on will have two main tabs at the top, Fixed Odds and PointsBetting, with the Same Game Parlay tab available for select games.

PointsBet Michigan Background

On December 19, 2019, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed a bill that legalized online casino games, online sports betting, and online poker. Gambling regulators worked all year to develop the rules and ways to license and monitor operators.

Michigan brick-and-mortar casinos began accepting in-person wagers in March 2020. The state's first sportsbook app went live in January 2021, and PointsBet was among the first operators to launch.

The company entered the market through a partnership with Northern Waters Casino Resort, owned by the Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians.

PointsBet strengthened its foothold in Michigan by signing multi-year partnerships with the Detroit Pistons and Detroit Red Wings.

PointsBet Michigan Alternatives

There's a lot to like with PointsBet including the unique PointsBetting system, one of the best intro promos currently available, and a great user interface.

There are, however, some PointsBet alternatives that may be a better fit for you depending on what you're looking for.

Here are some options to consider:

  • If you prefer lighter user interfaces: FanDuel
  • If you want a bet & get sign-up bonus: WynnBET
  • Our other highest-rated sportsbook: BetMGM
