Important Information About the PointsBet NY Intro Promo

  • PointsBetting vs. Fixed Odds. The PointsBet Second Chance Bets are only eligible for fixed odds bets, not PointsBetting bets. PointsBetting is PointsBet’s unique betting system that allows you to win or lose more money depending on how far off the result is from what you chose. For example, if you bet the Broncos -6.5 and they end up winning by 10, you would win more than you would if they only won by 7. A fixed-odds bet is a standard bet and the payouts don’t change based on the result.
  • Time to use Second Chance Bets. When you place your first bet, that is considered your first Second Chance Bet and is Day 1 of your 10 days of Second Chance Bets. Each day after that, your first bet for that day is considered the Second Chance Bet, but if you don't place any bet that day, you forfeit the bonus.
  • Time to Use Bonus Bets. You must use the bet credits (if you get them) within 7 days. This may sound like a short period, but it’s more than enough to explore the operator's various sports and betting markets.
  • Playthrough Requirement. There is only a 1x rollover requirement on the PointsBet bet credits, so you only need to wager them once before you can cash out the winnings generated from them. Note that you’ll only be able to withdraw the winnings stemming from bonus bets since the stake will be deducted from the total sum.
  • Eligible markets. There don’t seem to be any restrictions on either the second chance or bet credits in terms of odds or eligible markets.

PointsBet NY Odds Competitiveness

PointsBet regularly offers the most competitive odds for all sports that we've analyzed.

You can expect to see the standard -110 odds on most spread and total bets as well as competitive moneyline odds. You can learn more about how to read betting odds here.

Still, it's always smart to use at least a few sportsbooks so you can shop around for the best odds. This doesn't take much time but is important to become a profitable sports bettor over time.

PointsBet NY Odds Boosts, Promotions, & Rewards Program

After using the second chance bets from the intro promo, you can find many other promotions on PointsBet, including odds boosts, parlay boosts, reload bonuses, referral bonuses, a rewards program, and more.

PointsBet NY Odds Boosts

Although they’re referred to as Booster Odds on the website, these promos align with odds boosts at other sportsbooks. You can find them for many betting markets each day, with odds being boosted by around 20%.

PointsBet often features odds boosts on player props, more so than many of its competitors. You’ll find Booster Odds on various sports and competitions, including the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, golf, and others.

PointsBet NY Promotions

PointsBet has plenty of ongoing and periodical promotions, especially during peak season times.

Here are a few promos that the operator has run in the past:

  • Parlay Boost. Put three or more selections on your parlay or same game parlay and receive better odds.
  • Refer a Friend. Spread the word about PointsBet and get a $100 bonus bet for every person who joins through your referral link.
  • Same Game Parlay Insurance. Receive up to $25 back if only one of your 4+ leg same game parlay selections loses.
  • No Juice PointsBetting. Selected PointsBetting markets come with no vig or juice, allowing you to win at the best possible odds.
  • Sunday Night Football Bonus Bet. The first bet you make on Sunday Night Football is bonus and will reimburse you up to $20.

PointsBet NY Rewards Program

PointsBet also has a rewards program that awards points with each wager, allowing you to redeem those points for bonus bets. Every $1 wagered on PointsBetting or parlays and every $5 wagered on fixed-odds equal one rewards point.

Every 100 rewards points equal $1 worth of bonus bets, but the minimum number of points you can redeem is 250.

Sports PointsBet NY Offers Bets On

You can find more than a dozen sports on PointsBet, from major ones like football, basketball, baseball, and tennis, to a few niche sports like darts and Aussie rules football.

Types of Wagers PointsBet NY Offers

Apart from PointsBetting, which is a type of betting unique to this operator, PointsBet pretty much covers all the standard types of sports bets, including:

If you’ve visited U.S. betting sites before, you’re probably familiar with most of these bets. However, PointsBet also features its own type of bet called PointsBetting that you can’t find on any other sportsbook in the country.

The pleasure of PointsBetting is that you can get a higher payout than traditional betting, but with a higher risk because you can actually lose more money than your original bet. The further away from the line, the final outcome is, the more money you stand to win or lose.

For instance, if you bet $10 on the Over in an NFL game with a total of 44 and the game finishes with 49 points, you’ll win $50 ($10 for every point above the line). On the flip side, if the teams end up totaling 39 points, you’ll lose $50.

You can also cap the amount of your possible losses (as well as your winnings) so you can be as risky as you’d like with the bet.

Another thing you’ll see on PointsBet is the Name a Bet option. With this option, you can suggest a bet, and given that you’ve suggested something reasonable and on time, PointsBet might give you the odds for it.

Note that in NY, college betting is allowed, but not on state-based teams, even when they’re playing on the road.

PointsBet NY Live Betting

Live betting on PointsBet is available for pretty much every event. However, it’s especially popular for football, basketball, hockey, and baseball games, covering a ton of special live markets such as period betting, race to points, next team to score, and more.

To see all the games and matches currently taking place, simply click on the menu in the top left corner and select Live, or tap the In Play button at the bottom of your mobile screen if you’re using the app.

If you’re indecisive on whether you should request an early cashout or wait things out, PointsBet allows for partial cashouts, something that is very unique (and very cool).

PointsBet NY Same Game Parlays

Following in the footsteps of FanDuel and other U.S. sportsbooks that popularized this option, PointsBet has made it possible to bet on the same game parlays.

These allow you to combine sides, totals, props, and other bets from the same game onto a single slip.

Unfortunately, this option is not available for every game or every sport, and you can only use it on games that have the same game parlay tab.

Signing Up for PointsBet New York

You don’t have to be a resident of one of the states where PointsBet operates to sign up, but you must be located in one to place bets. The only other restriction is that you must be at least 21 years old.

PointsBet NY User Experience

PointsBet NY has both a website and a mobile app. In either case, you’ll encounter a well-designed interface, intuitive navigation, and quick loading times.

When playing on a desktop, you’ll need to download and install the Player Location Check as the operator can confirm that you’re located in an allowed area. You must be physically in New York or other states where PointsBet operates legally to place bets.

PointsBet NY Website Experience

We have no complaints about the user experience on the PointsBet website. The site has a slick dark design and doesn’t overwhelm users with large banners and hundreds of buttons. Everything is simple, and to the point, so even beginner bettors can work their way around finding their targeted sports and markets or information about promotions.

PointsBet NY Mobile App Experience

PointsBet mobile app looks slightly different from the website, with all changes made with limited screen size in mind. The main menu is at the bottom, alongside shortcuts to Sports, In Play, Quick Parlay, and My Bets.

Adding bets to your slip is effortless, and once the bet slip pops up, you can choose how to handle your multiple selections (single bets, parlay, round-robin).

Each game you tap on will have two main tabs at the top, Fixed Odds and PointsBetting, with the Same Game Parlay tab available for select games.

PointsBet New York Background

New York legalized sports betting in 2013 but only opened its first in-person sportsbook in 2019 after the federal ban was lifted.

Soon thereafter, the NY legislature decided to legalize online betting, and bidders lined up to join the potentially massive market. In the end, the NYSGC chose the 9 sportsbooks that would be allowed to open up shop in The Empire State, with the launch planned for January 2022.

New York online betting went live on January 8, 2022, with PointsBet joining in on January 24. Like all other authorized sportsbooks in the state, PointsBet is licensed and regulated by New York State Gaming Commission.

Unlike other NY betting sites, PointsBet does not have a retail partner in the state and, therefore, does not have a retail sportsbook New Yorkers can visit.

PointsBet Customer Support

You can reach the customer team of PointsBet in the following ways:

  • Live Chat:
    • Website: Scroll down to the footer and hit “Live Chat”
    • App: Hit the “Menu” button on the bottom right of the screen and scroll down to “Live Chat”

PointsBet NY Sportsbook Alternatives

There's a lot to like with PointsBet including the unique PointsBetting system, one of the best intro promos currently available, and a great user interface.

There are, however, some PointsBet alternatives that may be a better fit for you depending on what you're looking for.

Here are some options to consider:

  • If you prefer lighter user interfaces: FanDuel
  • If you prefer a deposit match intro bonus: DraftKings
  • Our other highest-rated sportsbook: BetMGM
