PointsBet online sportsbook went live in Colorado on November 18, 2020, and the launch of a retail sportsbook in Double Eagle Resort in Cripple Creek soon followed. PointsBet also has partnerships with three of the state’s professional teams—the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, and the NLL’s Colorado Mammoth. New customers on PointsBet CO will receive 10 second chance bets of $100 each for 10 days post signup.

PointsBet launched in Illinois in September 2020, just six months after online betting became legal in the state. The operator’s flagship retail location is at Hawthorne Race Course, but it also runs physical sportsbooks at three other off-track betting venues in Crestwood, Prospect Heights, and Oak Brook Terrace. You must visit one of these locations if you want to register your online account. As a new customer, you can get 10 second chance bets of up to $100 each. If your first fixed-odds wager loses, they'll refund you up to $100 in bet credits. Plus, for the following 9 days, you'll receive a daily $100 Second Chance Bet. Remember, each bonus is valid for its day only—miss a day, and you lose that bonus.

PointsBet started operating in Indiana in March 2020. It has reached a long-term agreement with Penn National Gaming and established a land-based partner in Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg, where it hosts a retail sportsbook. PointsBet has also partnered with two professional sports teams in Indiana, the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Pacers. Like in most other states, the intro promo on PointsBet IN is 10 Second-chance bets of $100 each. For 10 days, PointsBet refunds your daily first fixed-odds wager during the promo period, up to $100 each.

After a successful launch in November 2019, Iowa became the second state after New Jersey to host the PointsBet sportsbook. Its retail located at Catfish Bend Casino began operating in August the same year. At first, Iowa residents were required to perform an in-person registration at PointsBet’s physical location, but this rule expired in January 2021. New IA customers at PointsBet are offered 10 daily Second Chance Bets, up to $100 each, for their initial 10 days after signing up.

PointsBet launched its online sportsbook in Maryland in November 2022. The sportsbook’s retail partner is the Riverboat on the Potomac. New Jersey was the first state to welcome PointsBet in the US after a successful launch in January 2019. The operator also went live with an online casino in July 2021. When betting online in Michigan, new users get daily Second Chance Bets of $100 each, for 10 days. Skip a day, and that day's bonus is lost.

PointsBet debuted in West Virginia in August 2021, but it also went live with an online casino in January 2022. Although it partnered with Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, PointsBet does not offer a land-based sportsbook in the state. New PointsBet WV customers receive 10 daily Second-Chance bets up to $100 for their first 10 days.

PointsBet expanded its reach to Virginia at the end of 2021 with the launch of an online and mobile sportsbook in mid-December. It partnered with Colonial Downs Group, which runs a racetrack in New Kent. Since you can only bet online in Virginia at the moment, there is no retail PointsBet sportsbook in the state. PointsBet VA offers new members 10 Second-Chance bets. Each refund is up to $100 and lasts 7 days from issuance.

Signing Up for PointsBet

You don’t have to be a resident of one of the states where PointsBet operates to sign up, but you must be located in one to place bets. The only other restriction is that you must be at least 21 years old.

To sign up for an account, you’ll have to fill out some basic information including:

  • Email
  • Date of birth
  • Last 4 digits of Social Security number
  • Phone number
  • Address
  • Password

After filling out this information, you may be asked to upload a government-issued ID (such as a driver’s license or passport) to verify your identity.
