PointsBet online sportsbook went live in Colorado on November 18, 2020, and the launch of a retail sportsbook in Double Eagle Resort in Cripple Creek soon followed. PointsBet also has partnerships with three of the state’s professional teams—the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, and the NLL’s Colorado Mammoth. New customers on PointsBet CO can use an intro promo consisting of two risk-free bets—$500 for the first fixed odds wager and $1,500 for PointsBetting.

PointsBet launched in Illinois in September 2020, just six months after online betting became legal in the state. The operator’s flagship retail location is at Hawthorne Race Course, but it also runs physical sportsbooks at three other off-track betting venues in Crestwood, Prospect Heights, and Oak Brook Terrace. You must visit one of these locations if you want to register your online account. Two risk-free bets amounting to $2,000 represent this sportsbook’s intro promotion.

PointsBet started operating in Indiana in March 2020. It has reached a long-term agreement with Penn National Gaming and established a land-based partner in Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg, where it hosts a retail sportsbook. PointsBet has also partnered with two professional sports teams in Indiana, the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Pacers. Like in most other states, the intro promo on PointsBet IN consists of two risk-free bets up to $2,000.

After a successful launch in November 2019, Iowa became the second state after New Jersey to host the PointsBet sportsbook. Its retail located at Catfish Bend Casino began operating in August the same year. At first, Iowa residents were required to perform an in-person registration at the PointsBet’s physical location, but this rule expired in January 2021. The intro promo rewards new account holders with $500 in free bets and $1,500 for PointsBetting.

PointsBet launched its sportsbook product in Michigan in January 2021, while the Great Lake State became the first to host PointsBet online casino later in May. The sportsbook’s land-based partner is the Northern Waters Casino Resort in Watersmeet. Michigan players are welcomed to the sportsbook with two risk-free bets worth up to $2,000.

New Jersey was the first state to welcome PointsBet in the US after a successful launch in January 2019. The operator also went live with an online casino in July 2021. Both its NJ land-based partners—Bally’s AC and Meadowlands Racetrack—host in-person betting kiosks where you can deposit and claim your winnings. When betting online, you can take advantage of the intro promo consisting of two risk-free bets valued at up to $2,000.

PointsBet expanded its reach to Virginia at the end of 2021 with the launch of an online and mobile sportsbook in mid-December. It partnered with Colonial Downs Group, which runs a racetrack in New Kent. Since you can only bet online in Virginia at the moment, there is no retail PointsBet sportsbook in the state. The new customer promotion on PointsBet VA gives bettors two risk-free bets totaling $2,000.

Signing Up for PointsBet

You don’t have to be a resident of one of the states where PointsBet operates to sign up, but you must be located in one to place bets. The only other restriction is that you must be at least 21 years old.

To sign up for an account, you’ll have to fill out some basic information including:

  • Last 4 digits of Social Security number
  • Phone number
  • Address
  • Password

After filling out this information, you may be asked to upload a government-issued ID (such as a driver’s license or passport) to verify your identity.
