Since it started operating in business in 2006, Betway has expanded its gambling operations into many countries throughout the world.

Betway came to the United States shortly after PASPA was repealed—allowing states to decide for themselves whether or not to legalize gambling—in 2018.

Betway now operates in Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Betway Sportsbook offers a great intro bonus for new customers, competitive odds, regular odds boosts and ongoing promotions, and a wide variety of sports to bet on.

Our Betway Sportsbook review goes over everything you need to know to decide whether it's right for you, including how to get the intro promo, the registration process, banking options, pros and cons, and more.

In this review

Betway Sportsbook Quick Review

Betway is one of our top-rated sportsbooks in the U.S. thanks to its valuable intro bonus, competitive odds, wide range of markets, and fast payouts.

New customers can receive a risk-free bet up to $1,000 (NJ & PA) or $250 (all other states), depending on your state. If your first bet loses, Betway will refund with a free bet equal to the amount of your wager up to $250 or $1,000.

You'll also find almost every sport you can imagine on the Betway Sportsbook as well as all kinds of prop bets, futures markets, and same game parlays.

On the downside, the Betway user interface leaves a bit to be desired. While it's relatively easy to navigate, it lacks a lot of the features that top-tier books like FanDuel and DraftKings offer.

Overall, if you are looking for a new sportsbook in one of the states where Betway operates, it is well worthy of your consideration.

Pros & Cons

Betway Intro Promo

The Betway Sportsbook intro promo is a risk-free bet up to $1,000 (NJ & PA) or $250 (all other states). You don't need a Betway promo code to access the welcome bonus.

You can access it with our exclusive links here—no promo code required.

Here's how it works:

  1. After you register for a Betway account, make your first deposit of $10 or more.
  2. Place your first bet on an event that will finish within 7 days of opening your account.
  3. If your first bet wins, congrats! You won't receive a free bet.
  4. If your first bet loses, you will receive a free bet equal to the amount of your first bet up to $250 or $1,000.
  5. Use your free bet within 7 days of receiving it or it will be removed from your account.

There is only a 1x rollover requirement with the free bet, meaning you can withdraw any winnings after betting the free bet once. Note that you only receive the profits from the free bet, not including the amount wagered.

For example, if you lose your first Betway NJ bet of $250 and place the ensuing free bet on a market with +200 odds, you would only receive the $500 in profit from the free bet, not $750 which would also include the amount wagered.

The Betway Sportsbook intro promo is competitive compared to other options—especially in NJ and PA. While it isn't as high as some other sportsbooks that offer risk-free bets or deposit matches over $1,000, there are books that offer intro promos with values of $100 or less.

The biggest downside of the Betway welcome bonus is that you must use the free bets within 7 days. This is much lower than some competitors that give you between 30 days and a year to use the free bet/site credit.

Still, the Betway intro bonus for new customers is definitely worth taking advantage of if you bet in one of the states where it operates.

Betway Odds Competitiveness

Betway offers average odds relative to other sportsbooks.

You can expect to see a lot of the standard -110 odds on spread and total bets but they sometimes have -111 odds—which is slightly higher than the books that offer the best odds. You can learn more about how to read betting odds here.

We always recommend using at least a few sportsbooks so you can shop around for the best odds. This doesn't take much time but is important to become a profitable sports bettor over time.

Betway Odds Boosts & Promos

Aside from the intro bonus for new customers, Betway regularly offers promotions and odds boosts to help users win even more money. Note that these typically vary by state, so check your account to see what is currently offered.

Odds Boosts

Betway Sportsbook's odds boosts are called Betway Boosts Enhanced Odds (a mouthful, I know).

There are typically around 5 to 10 at any one time which is pretty generous compared to other sportsbooks.

One thing I really like about Betway's odds boosts is that they don't just boost the odds on longshot bets like a lot of other sportsbooks do.

Instead, most of the boosts are in the +200 to +450 range which are much more realistic than longshot boosts of +500 or higher.

Betway also offers some great sportsbook-specific promotions to help customers boost profits, earn free bets, and more.

Here are some examples of promos that the Betway Sportsbook has run in the past:

  • Live Bet $10, Get $5 Free on NHL Games. Bet $10 on any live NHL game and receive a free $5 bet.
  • 15% NCAAB Parlay Boost. Boost the odds of your Saturday college basketball parlay by anywhere from 5% to 15% depending on the number of legs.
  • 40% Soccer Parlay Boost. Boost the odds of your soccer parlay by anywhere from 5% to 40% depending on the number of legs.

Rewards Program

Betway's rewards program is called Betway Plus. It rewards customers for betting on casino games and the sportsbook.

There are two parts to Betway Plus:

  1. Tier Tokens. These determine your rewards tier which determines the benefits you are eligible for. Placing bets with longer odds gives you more Tier Tokens.
  2. Plus Points. These are like a currency that you can redeem for free bets and bonuses. The number of Tier Tokens you have as well as how many bets you place determine what kind of free bets and bonuses you are eligible for. Note that Plus Points expire 90 days after they enter your account.

Betway Plus is just another way Betway helps its customers win more money. Many sportsbooks don't have any sort of rewards program so this is a real differentiator for frequent bettors.

Types of Bets Betway Offers

Like most sportsbooks, Betway offers all of the major types of sports bets, including:

Live betting

Betway offers live betting on most sports including football, baseball, basketball, hockey, and more. You typically also have the option to cash out of your bets while games are still going on.

For example, if you bet $20 on an underdog at +200 and the live line has them as a slight favorite, you may be able to cash out your bet for around $30 (just an estimate for this example).

This is also helpful for parlays where you have already hit multiple legs. For example, if you have a 4 leg parlay and 3 have already hit, you may be able to cash out of your parlay for a portion of what you would win with the entire parlay.

Note that Betway does not offer live streaming of games, unlike some other sportsbooks.

Same game parlays

Same game parlays” have gained a lot of popularity over the past few years after sportsbooks like FanDuel started offering them.

With same game parlays, you can combine sides (spread and moneyline bets), totals, and prop bets from the same game in a single parlay.

Fortunately, Betway DOES offer same game parlays

If the event you are looking to bet on offers same game parlays, you will see a “Create Same Game Parlay” toggle towards the top of the screen. Just toggle this on and Betway will display the markets you can include.

Signing Up for the Betway Sportsbook

You don’t have to be a resident of one of the states where Betway operates to sign up for the sportsbook, but you must be located in one of the states to place bets. The only other restriction is that you must be at least 18 or 21 years old depending on the state.

To sign up for an account, you just have to follow this link and fill out some basic information including:

  • Email
  • Password
  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Phone number
  • Security questions
  • Last 4 digits of Social Security number
  • Address

After filling out this information, you may be asked to upload a government-issued ID (such as a driver’s license or passport) to verify your identity.

The whole process is quick and easy and should only take a few minutes. You can get an idea of what the registration screen looks like in the following mobile app screenshots (click to expand):

Betway Deposit & Withdrawal Methods

One of the best things about Betway is the wide variety of banking options and the fast payouts. You can learn more about all of this in our Guide to Betway Deposits & Withdrawals.

Betway does not charge any fees for depositing or withdrawing money but your bank might (though this is rare in my experience).

For all methods, the minimum deposit and withdrawal amounts are $10.

Betway App & Website Experience

You can bet with Betway through its website or mobile apps (iOS & Android). Note that there is a Betway app for each state it operates in.

The apps and website will verify your location to ensure you are located in a state where Betway operates online. You may be required to download an application to your computer to help verify your location or grant the website/mobile app access to your location.

You don't have to be a resident of a state where Betway operates to place bets; you just have to be physically located in the state.

Overall, the Betway Sportsbook app and websites offer a decent user experience. I rated them a 3 out of 5, or “average” relative to other sportsbooks.

The sportsbook uses a basic design without many colors, team icons, or other things that sportsbooks like FanDuel and DraftKings use to make it easier to navigate.

With that being said, it's easy enough to use the sportsbook, especially once you get used to it. The user experience isn't as important as some other things that Betway excels at, such as odds competitiveness and promos.

Here are some specific things to note about Betway Sportsbook's user experience on both the app and website:

Betway Mobile App

The Betway mobile app is pretty basic with a mostly black-and-white design. Many parts of it mirror common design features of other sportsbooks.

One thing that is different is that there aren't a lot of menus. From the homepage, you'll see a horizontally scrolling menu that shows you different sports, a search icon, and the All Sports menu.

The only icon at the bottom of the screen is a betslip app—a location where other books usually include links to other important parts of the app. Adding some more icons here would help make the app easier to navigate.

Once you find the sport you are looking for, you'll see a list of games you can bet on as well as (usually) the spread, total, and money lines/odds. You can click into a game to see all available markets such as alternate lines and prop bets.

After making your selection(s), you'll see the number in the betslip at the bottom of your screen go up. Once you're ready to bet, click into the betslip and decide whether you want to do a single bet, parlay, round robin, or teaser (a nice feature that makes it much faster to place the type of bet you want).

There are a few things that I wish Betway would change with its apps other than those mentioned above.

First, it would be nice to have an easier way to go back to the previous screen instead of having to go back to the top and using the breadcrumbs feature/arrow back.

Also, I find the prop bets to be a bit disorganized. Player props, for example, are most often just placed into one large section. You have to scroll through the list to find what you are looking for instead of being able to see one section (such as player points, rebounds, etc.) broken out from the others.

Check out some of the screenshots below to get a better idea of what the Betway Sportsbook apps are like (click to expand):

Betway Website

Much of what I said about the mobile app above holds true for the full Betway Sportsbook website. They both use the same general design, including color scheme, fonts, etc.

One the full website, you can see important parts of the book listed on the left sidebar. This makes it easier to quickly navigate to key sections.

You also don't have to click into the bet slip on the full website. Instead, it will always be visible on the right side of your screen, showing you your current selections and odds, as well as letting you quickly switch between single bets, parlays, round robins, and teasers.

Like the app, markets in an individual game aren't organized super well. While it's easy enough to find what you're looking for, it's not as easy as other books that use sub-categories to split up bet types.

One nice thing about the Betway Sportsbook site is that you can see live updates for certain games when clicking into them. This helps with placing live bets or following along on a game you bet on that you can't watch.

Here are some screenshots of the Betway Sportsbook website (click to expand):

I've found Betway Sportsbook to be relatively stable and haven't run into any major issues while using it.

At times, certain screens won't load right away, requiring me to either click out and click back in, or close out of the app and reload it. That's really the only thing I've noticed.

I haven't had any issues with not being able to place bets during peak times (such as right before the Super Bowl). While many other sportsbooks crash from time to time, I've found Betway to always be available.

You can get support from Betway 24/7/365.

To start, there is a FAQ section of the site that answers many of the common questions about limits, managing your account, banking options, geo-location issues, and more.

If that doesn't answer your question, there is a live chat feature that you can find at the bottom right of the website or you can submit a support ticket via the support section of the site.

Betway Customer Reviews

The Betway Sportsbook apps have average customer reviews compared to competitors. In the Apple App Store, the apps have an average rating of 3 stars from 132 reviews as of the time of this writing.

Many of the positive reviews talk about the great promotions, a wide variety of sports, and competitive odds.

Here is what I've most commonly seen in negative reviews:

  • App glitching/lagging
  • Trouble withdrawing money
  • Difficulty verifying identity
  • Geolocation not working properly

Betway Educational & Responsible Gaming Resources

Like any form of gambling, there is always a risk of losing your money when sports betting—especially if you don't fully understand how it works. In addition, gambling addiction is a serious problem that is easier to fall into than most people realize.

For that reason, when rating sportsbooks, I considered what kind of educational resources they provide and what responsible gambling resources and limits they have in place.

Educational resources

Betway offers an entire blog, called Betway Insider, that publishes content such as game previews, informational guides related to sports betting, and more. You can find everything from picks to experts to guides on how specific types of bets work. This, alone, is much more than what almost every other sportsbook offers.

Betway also offers team statistics through Sports Radar on many games. You can see information about past results, team records in various scenarios, and more. These can help you make more intelligent bets without having to leave the Betway Sportsbook.

Responsible gaming resources & limits

Betway has a Player Protection guide that's linked to from the top of the website and app on all screens. You can click into this to see responsible gambling tips, warning signs of gambling addiction, gambling myths, how you can find help if you're struggling, and much more.

They also have a number of limits you can place on your account to make sure you are gambling responsibly, including:

  • Deposit limit. Limits how much you can deposit to your account on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. You can only change the limit amount after the first time period has expired.
  • Spend limit. Limits how much money you can bet in total on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
  • Loss limit. Limits how much money you can lose in a given period. Once you hit your loss limit (based on net losses/winnings, not just losing bets), you will no longer be able to bet.
  • Single bet limit. Limits how much money you can place on a single wager.
  • Time limit. Limits the total amount of time you can spend on the website or app during a day.
  • Cool off period. Block yourself from logging into your account for 72 hours or more.
  • Self-exclusion. Block yourself from logging into your account for up to 365 days.
  • Permanently close account. Exactly like it sounds. You can do this by going to Account –> Responsible Gaming –> Close Account.
If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, you can also call 1-800-GAMBLER to get help.

Betway Alternatives

As one of our higher-rated sportsbooks, there aren't a ton of better options than Betway. There are a few other sportsbooks that may be a better fit for you depending on what you're looking for, however.

Here are some Betway Sportsbook alternatives to consider:
