SugarHouse promo code ODDS1 gives a second chance bet up to $500

SugarHouse is one of our vetted sportsbook partners. If you sign up for SugarHouse through one of our links, we may receive compensation. This allows us to keep this site free and doesn't affect our ratings or opinions in any way.

The SugarHouse Casino—now known as the Rivers Casino Philadelphia—was granted its Pennsylvania gaming license in 2006. After a few years of disputes with the city and development, the SugarHouse Casino opened in September 2010.

Just under a decade later in August 2018, the owners of SugarHouse, Rush Street Interactive, launched the SugarHouse Sportsbook in New Jersey, making it the second online sportsbook in NJ.

In May 2019, SugarHouse became the first approved online sports betting site in Pennsylvania and in October 2021, SugarHouse became one of the first three online sportsbooks in CT—though it shut down operations in CT in March 2023.

Today, SugarHouse remains one of the most popular sportsbooks in PA. It just recently rebranded to BetRivers in NJ. There is also a BetRivers Online Casino that is available in MI, NJ, PA, and WV.

SugarHouse Sportsbook offers competitive odds, a wide variety of markets and bet types, easy deposit and withdrawals, and regular promotions to help customers win.

This SugarHouse Sportsbook review will go over everything you need to know to decide whether SugarHouse is right for you including promotions, odds comparisons, pros and cons, common customer complaints, and much more.

SugarHouse Sportsbook Quick Review

SugarHouse Sportsbook checks in towards the top of our sportsbook rankings. SugarHouse mostly stands out for its extremely competitive odds. Aside from that, it is a well-rounded book with many things to like.

SugarHouse accepts bets on every major sport and league and offers more markets than almost every other book. They also recently introduced same game parlays that allow you to combine sides, totals, and props in a parlay from the same game.

The SugarHouse intro promo of a Second Chance Bet Up to $500. While it doesn’t have the total value of some competitors, it is much higher than the many operators that only offer risk-free bets of $250, $100, or $50.

There aren’t any major downsides with SugarHouse—they are average or better in every category we rate sportsbooks in. Their odds are better than most competitors, the website and app provide a decent user experience, and there is a mix of positive and negative customer reviews.

Overall, SugarHouse is worthy of your consideration if you're in any of the states where it operates. If you already use a sportsbook—such as FanDuelBetMGM, or PointsBet—it is a great sportsbook to use in conjunction since it often has the best odds available.

SugarHouse Sportsbook Intro Bonus

The SugarHouse Sportsbook intro promo for new customers is the same regardless of which state you bet in.

It is a second chance bet up to $500. If your first bet loses, SugarHouse will offer you a refund in the form of a single bet up to the limit.

To claim the deposit match welcome bonus, simply register for an account and use the SugarHouse promo code ODDS1 when prompted. After this, make your first deposit and bet of at least $10.

Bonus Requirements

You do have to bet the bonus bet (if you receive it) before you can withdraw it, but since there is only a 1x rollover requirement, you can withdraw winnings from the bet after only betting it once.

You must use the bonus bet within 30 days of receiving it or else you will forfeit the remaining balance.

In addition, you can only use the initial bet and bonus bet (assuming you receive it) on events with odds of -200 or longer (-110, +120, +300, etc.).

How the SugarHouse Intro Bonus Stacks Up

The SugarHouse Sportsbook sign-up bonus is competitive with other offers on the market. While it doesn't have the same value as operators like Caesars, BetMGM, or PointsBet, it is much higher than those that only offer $250, $100, or $50.

Overall, we rated SugarHouse intro bonus as a 4.5 out of 5, or slightly above average.

SugarHouse Sportsbook Odds Competitiveness

In my opinion, the best thing about SugarHouse is how competitive the odds are. SugarHouse regularly offers the best odds of all sportsbooks.

While most sportsbooks offer the standard -110 odds on most spread and total bets, SugarHouse regularly offers -108 or -109 odds. You can learn more about how to read betting odds here.

Still, it's always smart to use at least a few sportsbooks so you can shop around for the best odds. This doesn't take much time but is important to become a profitable sports bettor over time.

SugarHouse Odds Boosts & Promos

Aside from the deposit match for new customers, SugarHouse offers some promotions and odds boosts to keep customers engaged and to give them a chance at winning more money than usual.

We ranked SugarHouse as a 4 out of 5—or “above average”—for odds boosts and promotions outside of the intro promo.

Here is a look at each:

Odds Boosts

SugarHouse doesn't call them “odds boosts” like other sportsbooks; instead, they are called “House Specials.” They work similarly to other books, however.

Every day, SugarHouse will give better odds on around 5 to 15 bets. Most often, these have odds of +200 or higher (+300, +400, etc.).

I do wish SugarHouse showed what the odds were boosted from like other sportsbooks. For example, DraftKings will say something along the lines of “+250 (was +200)” when showing boosts. This helps you get an idea of how much of a deal you are getting on the selection.

Promotions

Aside from the deposit match for new customers, SugarHouse regularly offers other promotions to customers.

Here are some examples of promos that the SugarHouse Sportsbook has run in the past:

  • NFL 20% Parlay Boost. Receive a 20% parlay boost to use on any 3+ leg parlay on the NFL.
  • MLB Opening Day Promo. Bet $100 on MLB games and receive $1 in site credit for every Opening Day homerun.
  • Mystery Madness. Daily specials on the 2021 NCAA Basketball Tournament. An example is a 25% parlay profit boost.
  • Live Profit Boost. Boost the odds on any live bet by 25%.
  • Daily Parlay Boost. Boost the odds on a parlay by 10% every day.
  • MLB Profit Boost. Boost the odds on any MLB bet by 20% every Wednesday.

We have also seen SugarHouse offer reload bonuses for current customers in the past.

iRush Rewards Program

SugarHouse's tier-based rewards program is called iRush Rewards. By placing sports bets and wagers in the online casino, you can unlock special offers, free gifts, access to VIP events, expedited withdrawals, and more.

The more you bet, the more points you earn towards the iRush Rewards Program.

One of the great things about the bonus bets and bonuses that come with the program is that there is always a 1x rollover—meaning that you only have to bet the rewards credit one time before you are able to withdraw it. Other books often require a 5x rollover or more before allowing withdrawals.

Note that if you stop wagering for a period of time, the rewards tier you are in will likely drop. This is something that customers often complain about in reviews. I have also seen some claiming that they never received the benefits promised to them at certain tiers.

Types of Wagers SugarHouse Accepts

Like most online sportsbooks, SugarHouse offers all of the primary types of sports bets such as:

Live betting, cashing out, & streaming

SugarHouse offers live betting on all major sports including football, baseball, basketball, hockey, tennis, golf, and much more. They even offer live betting on many less popular leagues such as Brazilian soccer and international cricket.

Note that lines often lock when betting live events—especially during big plays and critical moments—so if you go to place a wager and it's locked, just wait a few seconds for it to open back up.

On top of live betting, SugarHouse also allows you to cash out of most of your bets early. This works with both single bets on games that are still in progress as well as parlays. For example, if you bet a 4-leg parlay tonight and the first 3 selections hit, you may be able to cash out for an amount lower than the full payout if all 4 legs hit.

Finally, SugarHouse lets users live stream select games directly within the app or website. Look for the “Stream” button in the top menu to see what games are currently available for streaming.

Same game parlays

Same game parlays” have gained a lot of popularity over the past few years after sportsbooks like FanDuel started offering them. With same game parlays, you can combine multiple wagers from the same game into a single parlay.

Fortunately, SugarHouse Sportsbook DOES offer same game parlays.

You can combine spreads and totals from the same game (such as Chiefs -7.5 & Over 52.5 points) with player props (such as Patrick Mahomes Over 3.5 TDs).

Signing Up for the SugarHouse Sportsbook

You don’t have to be a resident of Pennsylvania or New Jersey to register for SugarHouse, but you must be located in one of the states to place bets. The only other restriction is that you must be at least 21 years old.

To sign up for an account, you’ll have to fill out some basic information including:

SugarHouse Sportsbook Deposit & Withdrawal Methods

One of my favorite parts of SugarHouse is the variety of deposit and withdrawal methods as well as the speed of both.

SugarHouse does not charge any fees for depositing or withdrawing money but your bank might (though this is rare in my experience).

For all methods, the minimum deposit and withdrawal amount is $10.

SugarHouse Sportsbook App & Website Experience

You can bet with SugarHouse through its website or mobile app (iOS & Android) depending on which state you are in.

If you are located in Pennsylvania, you'll have to use the SugarHouse website no matter if you are on a computer or your phone if you use an iPhone. If you have an Android phone, you can download the Play SugarHouse PA mobile app.

There is a SugarHouse CT mobile app that you can download to play if you're betting there.

SugarHouse PA Mobile Site

Since I don't have an Android device, I use the SugarHouse PA mobile site. While the following is directly based on that, much of what I say should hold true for the Android app as well.

To use the SugarHouse Sportsbook in Pennsylvania on your iPhone, you'll have to first download the GeoGuardLocation app to your phone so they can verify your location. From there, either register or log in to SugarHouse PA via the mobile website and you should be all good to go.

As for the user experience, it's worth first noting that mobile websites rarely have the same speed and responsiveness as mobile apps. With that being said, SugarHouse has done a pretty good job creating a nice experience on the mobile site. I actually prefer the mobile site for PA to the app for NJ.

Navigation

At the top of the screen, there is a horizontal menu that highlights popular sports, streamable games, specials, and more. This makes it easy to quickly find the sports and games you are looking for. You can click the Menu button in this menu that opens a vertical menu on the side of your screen where you can see even more options, including all sports.

Making selections

Once you click into a sport, it's pretty easy to see and choose the lines for games. You can also quickly tab over to live games and future bets.

The biggest problem with the mobile website, in my opinion, is once you click into a game. I find the odds display to be a bit random and hard to navigate (though not impossible by any means).

While SugarHouse offers a ton of alternate lines, there is typically no way to collapse the lists, forcing you to scroll through all those options to get to the next section. In addition, the player props aren't organized in a way where it's easy to compare different players because of how large the section for each individual is.

Betslip

The bet slip is always located in the bottom right of your screen and you can see how many games you currently have selected via the numerical bubble there. Once you click it, you can easily switch between single bets, parlays, and round robins. In the parlay section, you can quickly make it a teaser too which is always a small, yet very useful, thing I look for in sportsbooks.

Overall, the SugarHouse Sportsbook PA mobile site is decent for a mobile website. While I always prefer an actual app, SugarHouse has done a good job creating a solid user experience with the mobile site.

Screenshots

Check out some of the screenshots below to get a better idea of what the SugarHouse Sportsbook mobile website for PA is like (click to expand):

SugarHouse PA Website

Much of what I said about the mobile site for SugarHouse PA is true for the desktop site. They have the same general design with some menus moved around.

The first thing I want to note, however, is the terrible “Newsfeed” on the right side of the screen. This shows random users' win streaks and big bets they've won. I find it extremely distracting as it's constantly scrolling and takes up so much of the screen. This alone is actually enough for me to never use the SugarHouse Sportsbook website.

Aside from that, the website is easy enough to navigate with the horizontal menu towards the top of the screen and the vertical menu on the left side of the screen. It's easy to see the lines for a single sport, but I have the issues with finding lines in a single game that I do with the mobile site.

Another downside of the full SugarHouse PA website is that the bet slip isn't open by default like most other sportsbooks. Typically, the bet slip is always visible on the right side of the screen, but it isn't here because of the awful Newsfeed there. Instead, you have to click into the bet slip—which itself is actually nicely designed—on the bottom right of your screen.

Here are some screenshots of the SugarHouse Sportsbook PA website (click to expand):

Stability

In the time I've used the SugarHouse Sportsbook website and app/mobile site, I haven't run into any major issues with it glitching out or not working.

A few times, SugarHouse has had a hard time verifying my location or I've had to close and reopen the app a few times after it froze up, but those cases have been rare.

The app and website have run smoothly the vast majority of the time I've used them.

One other thing to note is that I've seen some customers complaining about having trouble logging in from time to time. Most have said closing and reopening the app solved the issue.

Support

One of my favorite parts about the SugarHill Sportsbook is how easy it is to initiate a live chat with customer support directly from the app or website.

On the full desktop website, simply click the “Support chat” button in the top right. of your screen and you can start a chat from the page you are on. On the mobile app, click the little chat icon on the bottom left to do the same. On the mobile website, look for the Support button on the right side of the bottom menu.

Other than the live chat, you can contact SugarHouse via the following methods:

SugarHouse Educational & Responsible Gaming Resources

Like any form of gambling, there is always a risk of losing your money when sports betting—especially if you don't fully understand how it works. In addition, gambling addiction is a serious problem that is easier to fall into than most people realize.

For that reason, when rating sportsbooks, I considered what kind of educational resources they provide and what responsible gambling resources and limits they have in place.

Educational resources

SugarHouse's main educational resource is the SportsBetting Quickstart Guide which goes over how to place a bet, how odds work, common betting terms, how live betting works, and specific information for betting on baseball, football, hockey, boxing/MMA, tennis, and soccer. This guide is a solid starting point to understanding how sports betting works.

They also offer an extensive FAQ section that goes over other common questions that come up with how sports betting works, bonuses & promotions, registration, deposits & withdrawals, and more.

SugarHouse also offers some limited team statistics within the app and on the website. Once you click into a game, you can see the results of each team's last 3 games as well as the last 5 head-to-head matchups between the teams.

While these stats aren't as useful as what other sportsbooks offer, it's better than nothing and at least gives you somewhat of an idea of how the teams have been playing.

I was not able to find any player statistics in the SugarHouse Sportsbook app or website.

Responsible gaming resources & limits

SugarHouse offers a few different resources for responsible gambling.

To start, there is a Responsible Gambling/Player Protection Terms that goes over some tips on gambling responsibly and other ways SugarHouse protects you.

There is also a Responsible Gaming FAQ page that goes over how to know if you have a gambling problem, how sports betting limits work, and more.

Compared to most of the other sportsbooks I've reviewed, SugarHouse offers less information on responsible gambling. BetMGM, for example, offers extensive guides that go over things like warning signs to look out for and resources where you can find help.

Here is a quick overview of the gambling limits SugarHouse offers that you can set up to ensure you are gambling responsibly:

  • Deposit limit. Limits how much you can deposit to your account on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. You can only change the limit amount after the first time period has expired.
  • Spending limit. Limits how much money you can bet in total on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
  • Time limit. Limits the total amount of time you can spend on the website or app during a day.
  • Self-suspension. Block yourself from logging into your account for anywhere from 3 to 365 days.
  • Self-exclusion. This restricts you from accessing any online gambling site in New Jersey, including SugarHouse, for a period of 1 to 5 years.
If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, you can also call 1-800-GAMBLER to get help.

SugarHouse Sportsbook Alternatives

Though SugarHouse Sportsbook is a great option, there are many alternatives to SugarHouse that are worthy of your consideration.

Here are some options you may want to check out depending on what yo

  • If you want a better overall sportsbook: FanDuel
