Originally founded in 1997, Unibet is now one of the world's most prominent casinos and sportsbooks with locations in Europe, Australia, and the United States.

Though the company was officially renamed the Kindred Group in 2016, Unibet remains its most popular gambling brand with over one million registered users.

Since joining the U.S. sports betting market with its launch in Pennsylvania in November 2019, Unibet has since expanded to Arizona, Indiana, New Jersey, Virginia , and we expect it to launch in more states soon.

If you are located in any of the above states, Unibet is a solid option for sports betting. It offers a competitive intro promo for new customers, generous odds boosts and ongoing promos, and a good user experience.

This Unibet Sportsbook review will go over how the intro promo works, pros and cons, common customer complaints, and more to help you decide if this sportsbook is the right match for you.

In this review

Unibet Sportsbook Quick Review

Unibet is a decent option for bettors in states where it operates. Overall, we rated Unibet as 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Unibet offers a competitive intro bonus for new customers, generous odds boosts and ongoing promotions, a nice user experience on both the apps and website, a wide variety of markets to bet on, and same game parlays.

On the downside, we've found that Unibet often has worse odds than other sportsbooks and customers regularly have problems with long withdrawal times.

Overall, if you live in AZ, IN, NJ, PA, or VA, it's definitely worth considering Unibet. We recommend using it alongside at least one other sportsbook so you can shop around for the best lines and odds.

Unibet Intro Promo

In the past, the Unibet intro promo for new customers has varied based on which state you are in, but it is currently the same for all states.

Here is the current intro promo for each state that Unibet operates in:

  • Unibet Arizona Sportsbook Promo. Second Chance bet up to $500.
  • Unibet Indiana Sportsbook Promo. Second Chance bet up to $500.
  • Unibet New Jersey Sportsbook Promo. Second Chance bet up to $500.
  • Unibet Pennsylvania Sportsbook Promo. Second Chance bet up to $500.
  • Unibet Virginia Sportsbook Promo. Second Chance bet up to $500.

For the bonus bet, you will only receive a refund in site credit if your first bet of $10 or more loses. The refund will be equal to your first bet, up to $500.

You must use the site credit within 30 days of it hitting your account or else you will forfeit it. In addition, the site credit will only count towards events with odds of -300 or longer (-110, +130, +300, etc.).

Since there is only a 1x rollover requirement on the bonus bet, you can withdraw your winnings immediately if you do win. Just note that you will only be given the winnings from the bonus bet (not including the amount you wagered). So, for example, if you bet $20 on an event with +200 odds, you would only receive $40 (the winnings from the bet), not $60 (which would include the amount you wagered as well).

How it stacks up

The Unibet Sportsbook promo is decent compared to other sportsbooks. The total bonus bet amount is lower than some other books that offer $1,000 or $2,000, but it is higher than those that offer $250 or less.

Unibet Sportsbook Odds Competitiveness

Unibet offers average odds compared to other sportsbooks. While most top-tier books offer the standard -110 odds on most spread and total bets, Unibet typically has standard odds of -111 or -112. You can learn more about how to read betting odds here.

If you end up signing up for Unibet, we recommend using at least at one other sportsbook so you can shop around for the best odds. This doesn't take much time but is important to become a profitable sports bettor over time.

Unibet Odds Boosts & Promotions

In addition to the intro promo for new customers, Unibet also offers ongoing promotions and odds boosts. Here is a look into each:

Odds Boosts

Unibet typically offers anywhere from 2 to 10 odds boosts each day including games from all major sports. In my experience, these odds boosts are often on player props as opposed to more traditional markets like sides and totals.

Since many sportsbooks don't offer odds boosts at all, it's nice to see Unibet offering them. With that being said, there are other sportsbooks—such as DraftKings and FanDuel—that usually offer more boosts at any one time.

This may be in part because many of Unibet's sportsbook promotions have to do with boosting odds on games of your choosing (more on that below).

Promotions

Aside from the sign-up bonus, Unibet regularly offers promotions allowing you to boost odds, get refunds, and more.

Here are some examples of sportsbook promos that Unibet has run in the past:

  • $10 Bonus Every Week: Each week, get a free $10 bonus for placing 5 or more live bets of at least $10 (-300 odds or longer).
  • Parlay Boosts: Boost the odds of any 3+ leg parlay (with each leg having at least -200 odds). The more legs, the bigger the boost.
  • 4 Live Tennis Boosts Per Week: Boost the live odds on 2 matches every Wednesday and 2 matches every Friday by 25% each.
  • Weekly Deposit Reload: Receive a 25% deposit match in site credit up to $50 when you deposit on Thursdays.
  • NHL Live Boost: Boost the odds on any NHL live bet by 50%.

Rewards program

It doesn't seem that Unibet offers a sports betting rewards/loyalty program at this time.

Types of Bets Unibet Offers

Like most sportsbooks, Unibet offers most forms of sports betting, including:

Live betting

Unibet offers live betting on all major sports including football, baseball, basketball, soccer, hockey, and more.

You can also cash out of select bets (single bets and parlays) that are not yet settled. For example, if you have a 3-leg parlay and the first 2 legs hit, you can cash out for a lower amount than you would win if all 3 legs hit.

Same game parlays

In the last year or so, “same game parlays” have become very popular after major sportsbooks—such as FanDuel—started offering them.

Fortunately, Unibet DOES offer same game parlays, they are just called Same Game Combos.

With these, you can combine sides, totals, and prop bets from the same game in a single parlay. Most other sportsbooks only allow you to combine the spread/moneyline and the total from a single game.

Same Game Combos are typically only available for select sports and games. For example, I've seen them available much more in soccer and hockey than I have in basketball.

Signing Up for Unibet

You don’t have to be a resident of one of the states where Unibet operates to sign up for the sportsbook, but you must be located in one of them to place bets. The only other restriction is that you must be at least 21 years old.

To sign up for an account, you’ll have to fill out some basic information including:

  • Email
  • Password
  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Phone number
  • Security questions
  • Last 4 digits of Social Security number
  • Address

After filling out this information, you may be asked to upload a government-issued ID (such as a driver’s license or passport) to verify your identity.

The whole process is quick and easy and should only take a few minutes.

You can get an idea of what the registration screen looks like in the following mobile screenshots (click to expand):

Unibet Deposit & Withdrawal Methods

It’s easy to deposit and withdraw money into/out of your Unibet account and there are a few methods to choose from that are highlighted below. You can deposit and withdraw money from any location—even if you are outside of one of the states that Unibet operates in.

Note that Unibet does not charge any fees for depositing or withdrawing money but your bank might.

For all methods, the minimum deposit and withdrawal amount is $10.

While there aren't many listed withdrawal wait times on the Unibet site, there are many customer reviews that complain about having to wait 2 weeks or longer to receive their money. Often this seems to be because Unibet requests more proof of identity before releasing your money.

Unibet Sportsbook App & Website Experience

You can bet with Unibet through its website or mobile apps (iOS & Android). There are multiple mobile apps based on which state you want to bet in.

The app or website will verify your location to ensure you are located in a state where Unibet operates online. You may be required to download an application to your computer to help verify your location or grant the website/mobile app access to your location.

Note that you don't have to be a resident of any specific state to bet with Unibet; you just have to be physically located in one of the states to actually place the bets.

User Experience

Overall, both the Unibet website and mobile apps provide a good user experience. They have a clean, minimalistic design that isn't loaded with banners and other callouts that make it hard to find what you're looking for.

While the Unibet user experience isn't my absolute favorite (that award goes to the FanDuel Sportsbook), I rated it a 4 out of 5, or above-average.

Unibet mobile app notes

Here are some specific things I like and dislike about Unibet's mobile apps.

Navigation

There are a few main menus that allow you to navigate to different parts of the app. First, the very top left hamburger menu opens up the main menu that links to the sportsbook, casino, promos, where to find help, and more.

The second hamburger menu under that links to popular leagues (NBA, MLB, NFL, etc.) as well as all available sports and odds boosts. There are also horizontally scrolling menus throughout the app that link to popular sports and other sections of the site.

When it comes to the navigation, my main gripe is that there is no footer menu available. Most sportsbooks use a footer menu to allow users to quickly jump to popular sports, live sports, and the betslip.

Choosing bets

Depending on which screen you're on, you may be shown the main lines for each game—usually including spread, total, and moneyline—but I've found that some screens only show the spreads. In these cases, there is a little dropdown that lets you switch to totals or moneyline bets, but it's a bit annoying that you can't see all three like other screens within the app show.

I've found it easy to find what I am looking for once I click into a game. Like most other books, you can switch between all bets, game parlays, player props, and more to filter down the markets being shown.

Betslip

Once you make a selection, the betslip will pop up from the bottom of the screen. From here, you can either place your wager or minimize it to keep adding other selections—such as if you want to make a parlay. I like how Unibet automatically adds the teaser button to the betslip so you can create one with one click instead of having to select a bunch of alternate lines.

Here are some screenshots of the Unibet PA mobile app (click to expand):

Unibet Website Notes

You'll notice that the Unibet website is very similar to the mobile app. They both have the same basic design and general structure.

Navigation

One benefit of the website as compared to the app is that you can always see the A-Z  sports menu on the left side of the screen, making it easy to jump around to different parts of the sportsbook.

Betslip

The betslip also looks the same on the website as it does on the mobile app. Once you make a selection, it will pop up on the bottom right of your screen, allowing you to place single bets, parlays, round robins, or teasers.

I do wish the betslip was permanently sticky on the right side of the screen as most sportsbooks do, but this isn't a huge deal. Especially because Unibet includes a pin icon on the betslip that does exactly what I just described.

Here are some screenshots of the Unibet PA website (click to expand):

Stability

I haven't run into any major issues with the Unibet website or mobile app crashing or glitching out. In addition, there are very few customer reviews that complain about the stability of the sportsbook.

There are two minor things I've noticed that happen from time to time with the Unibet app, neither of which are big problems.

First, sometimes I find that the lines on a screen won't load when I first navigate to it. In this case, I can usually click to a different section of the app then come back and it'll work fine.

The other issue I've come across is the team statistics not loading for games. I haven't yet found an easy solution to this problem.

Unibet Sportsbook Customer Reviews

Unibet is a mixed bag when it comes to customer reviews.

In the Apple App Store, the mobile apps have an average score of 2.7 from 392 reviews as of the time of this writing.

Customers who left positive reviews often talk about the great user experience, wide selections of markets available, generous odds boosts and promos,

As with any product, though, there are some people that have had bad experiences. Here are the most common complaints I've seen in my research:

  • Difficulty reaching customer service representatives
  • Poor customer service
  • Long withdrawal wait times
  • App not being able to verify location
  • Trouble verifying identity

Unibet Sportsbook Educational & Responsible Gaming Resources

Like any form of gambling, there is always a risk of losing your money when sports betting—especially if you don't fully understand how it works. In addition, gambling addiction is a serious problem that is easier to fall into than most people realize.

For that reason, when rating sportsbooks, I considered what kind of educational resources they provide and what responsible gambling resources and limits they have in place.

Educational resources

Unibet offers a decent betting guide that explains the different types of sports bets, how odds work, live betting, and cashing out of bets early. If you are new to sports betting, this is a decent introduction that can get you started.

Outside of this guide, Unibet also offers a Sportsbook Rules page that goes more in-depth into how certain bets work.

Finally, Unibet offers team statistics for most games including how each team has done in recent games and head-to-head matchups. While these aren't as extensive as some other sportsbooks' offerings, it can give you a quick overview of the form of the teams playing.

I haven't been able to find any player statistics in Unibet as some other sportsbooks offer.

Responsible gaming resources & limits

Unibet offers an extensive responsible gaming guide that goes over how to play responsibly, resources where you can find help, risks of gambling, warning signs of gambling problems, and more.

Unibet also offers a number of limits and other things to help customers gamble responsibly and take a break when necessary. Here is a quick overview of each:

  • Deposit limit. Limits how much you can deposit to your account in a daily, weekly, or monthly time period.
  • Spend limit. Limits how much you can lose in a set period of time. Note that this limit takes winnings into account. It isn't simply just how much you can wager.
  • Session limit. Blocks you from wagering after you've been logged into your account for a certain amount of time.
  • Single bet limit. Restricts the amount you can wager on a single bet.
  • Cool off. Block yourself from gambling for anywhere from 3 to 30 days.
  • Self-exclusion. Block yourself from betting for a period of 1 year, 5 years, or permanently.
If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, you can also call 1-800-GAMBLER to get help.

Unibet Sporstbook Alternatives

As one of our lower-rated sportsbooks, there are many great alternatives to Unibet worthy of your consideration.

Here are some options you may want to check out depending on what you value:

  • If you want a better overall sportsbook: FanDuel
  • If you want a better intro promo: Caesars
  • If you value customer reviews: BetMGM
