Mastercard is one of the leading credit card brands in the world. It’s available in 210 countries and features more than 234 million cards in circulation in the U.S. alone.

Many online sportsbooks in the U.S. accept Mastercard for deposits and thousands of bettors enjoy the cards’ convenience for betting-related transactions.

This guide goes over those options as well as what you need to know about using Mastercard with your sportsbook.

If your first bet loses, FanDuel will refund you in bonus bets up to $1,000. You will receive your bonus bets within 72 hours of your first bet settling and you have 14 days to use them once they hit your account. Access the promo with our exclusive link here.

FanDuel comes in as tied for our highest-rated online sportsbook thanks to the competitive odds, generous promotions and odds boosts, variety of bet types and sports to wager on, and a great user experience on both the website and mobile app.

Best of all for Mastercard holders, Mastercard deposits with FanDuel are instant and free.

The $1,000 No Sweat First Bet intro promo for new customers is also one of the best currently available. If your first bet loses, FanDuel will refund you in bonus bets up to $1,000. You only have 14 days to use the bonus bets (if you receive them) but you only have to bet them once before you can withdraw any winnings.

FanDuel pioneered the “Same Game Parlay” and offers the smoothest and most complete process for betting them. With these, you can combine prop bets, totals, and sides from the same game in a single parlay. If you've ever seen screenshots of ridiculous parlays from a single game online, it was likely a Same Game Parlay from FanDuel.

While we generally recommend using at least a few sportsbooks so you can shop around for the best lines and odds, FanDuel is a solid option to go with if you only want to use one.

PointsBet is offering 5 Second Chance Bets of $50 each for new customers. You receive one Second Chance Bet per day for 5 days after signing up. No promo code required—access here.

PointsBet comes in as tied with FanDuel and BetMGM for our #1 overall sportsbook in the nation.

If you're looking for a Mastercard sportsbook to use, PointsBet is another great option.

The PointsBet sign up bonus of 5 Second Chance Bets of $50 each is unique in that it is split up over 5 days and is pretty valuable. Instead of just one risk-free or second chance bet, you receive 5 of them.

The unique PointsBetting system adds a unique twist to sports betting that is otherwise pretty much standardized across the U.S. With this, you win or lose more depending on how far off the result of your bet was from the line.

PointsBet has a nice user interface on both the app and website, and they allow you to bet on all majors sports and leagues. You can also bet same game parlays (called “Single Game Parlays”).

The only category that we don’t rate PointsBet as 5 stars is Deposits & Withdrawals. While we still rate them as 4 stars (or “Great”), they don't offer quite the same number of banking methods as some other books—though they do offer Mastercard deposits.

Whether you are new to sports betting or are a seasoned veteran, PointsBet is well worthy of your consideration, especially if you want a valuable intro promo and like the unique PointsBetting system.

BetMGM Sportsbook is another one of our highest-rated Mastercard betting sites—scoring well in most categories we analyze.

Like most other sportsbooks, Mastercard deposits with BetMGM are instant.

BetMGM offers a competitive intro promo, a wide variety of sports and bet types, generous promotions and odds boosts, competitive odds, and a good user experience.

Another thing that sets BetMGM apart is that it offers true same game parlays (called “One Game Parlays”). Like with FanDuel's Same Game Parlays, you can combine prop bets, totals, and/or sides from the same game in one parlay.

Of all the sportsbooks we've analyzed, BetMGM has the best customer reviews. On the Apple App Store, BetMGM has a 4.8 score out of 5 from over 37 thousand reviews.

On the downside, BetMGM doesn't have player statistics available in the app or Face ID/Touch ID for logging in. While these aren't major problems by any means, it makes life a little bit easier when betting.

Overall, BetMGM is a great sportsbook and is worth including in your stable of sports betting apps.

DraftKings will match 20% of your first deposit of up to $5,000 ($1,000 max match in site credit). You must bet the bonus 25x before you are able to withdraw it and you have 90 days to do so.

DraftKings Sportsbook comes in as a very close fourth place for the best Mastercard sports betting option.

Mastercard deposits with DraftKings are instant and DraftKings charges no fees.

DraftKings ranks as one of our highest-rated sportsbooks thanks to the competitive odds, generous promotions and odds boosts, variety of bet types and sports to wager on, and great user experience on both the website and mobile app.

The only categories where DraftKings doesn’t rank as “best” (5/5 stars) in are intro promo and user interface—both of which it ranked as “above average” (4/5 stars) in.

The intro promo provides good value ($1,000 if maxed out), but the 25x rollover requirement is a lot especially considering you only have 90 days to bet it. Also, DraftKings doesn't offer same game parlays like FanDuel and some other sportsbooks do.

Overall, the DraftKings Sportsbook is a phenomenal choice when it comes to betting. If you go with DraftKings, be sure to read the fine print on the intro promo and bet the deposit match in time.

After making your first bet of $100+ on a market with -120 odds or longer, WynnBET will give you a $100 bet credit. NJ & MI players get a $50 free sportsbook bet & $50 casino bonus. Bet credit expires 10 days after you receive it.

WynnBET is the online sportsbook arm of the legendary Wynn Resorts. While it may not be as recognized as FanDuel and DraftKings, it is a great option for those in states where it operates.

WynnBet allows customers to deposit with Mastercard cards, as well as a number of other convenient options.

To start, WynnBET offers a competitive welcome bonus of a $100 bet credit after just betting $100. After you make your first bet of $100+ on a market with -120 odds or longer (-110, +200, etc.), WynnBET will give you a $100 bet credit.* While this promo isn't as high in value as others, it requires a much lower deposit to max it out.

Aside from the welcome bonus for new customers, WynnBET also offers many ongoing promotions and odds boosts that allow you to boost your winnings, earn bet credits, or insure bets.

Though the WynnBET app and website aren't my favorite in terms of user experience, they're easy enough to navigate and place bets with.

All in all, WynnBET is a great sportsbook and is worth adding to your stable of sports betting apps—especially considering the bet $100, get $100 free intro promo.

*Players in NJ & MI will receive a $50 bet credit for the sportsbook and a $50 casino bonus.

BetRivers/SugarHouse offers a second chance bet up to $500 in all states except NY where its $100. You have 30 days to use the bonus bet if you receive it and there is only a 1x rollover requirement.

BetRivers and SugarHouse are essentially the same sportsbook, they just operate in different states with a different brand name. Both sportsbooks offer Mastercard deposits.

We listed BetRivers/SugarHouse towards the end of this list, but that doesn’t mean they’re a bad option for bettors. They have some of the best odds of all sportsbooks, regularly offering odds better than the standard -110.

BetRivers/SugarHouse also offer a second chance bonus bet up to $500 for new customers. If your first bet loses, you'll get a refund in the form of a bonus bet up to the limit. You have 30 days to use the bonus bet once you receive it.

We’d be remiss not to mention the BetRivers’/SugarHouse’s loyalty program, iRush rewards. Bettors can simultaneously earn loyalty and bonus store points and redeem them for various perks and/or bonus money rewards.

Overall, BetRivers and SugarHouse are great sportsbooks that bettors in the states where they operate should definitely consider.

If your first bet loses, Caesars will refund it with a bet credit of equal value up to $1,250. You have 14 days to use the bet credit and there is a minimum odds requirement of -200.

Caesars Sportsbook made huge strides in our online sportsbook rankings after purchasing and integrating with William Hill. Caesars offers Mastercard as a banking method for both deposits which are instant.

Caesars offers one of the best intro promos for new customers—first bet insurance up to $1,250. If your first bet loses, Caesars will give you a few bet of an equal amount.

The perks of the Caesars Sportsbook don't end after you take advantage of the intro bonus, either. They offer the most competitive odds in the industry and have attractive ongoing promotions and odds boosts to help you win more.

Caesars also offers all major sports and bet types—including same game parlays that allow you to combine sides, totals, and prop bets from the same game in one parlay.

There isn't much not to like when it comes to the new Caesars Sportsbook. While it isn't my favorite user interface of all the sportsbook apps, it's easy to navigate and place bets.

Overall, if you are looking for a single Mastercard sportsbook to use, Caesars is another awesome option to consider.

Betway rounds out our list of the best online sportsbooks that accept Mastercard.

Deposits through Mastercard are instant, as are all of Betway's other deposit methods. In addition, all of Betway's withdrawals are very fast too.

Betway also offers a wide variety of sports and markets, including the coveted same game parlay. The only sport that we haven't seen on Betway that we check for is lacrosse.

On the downside, Betway only has mediocre customer reviews and a rather dull interface. While it is easy enough to navigate, it isn't as visually appealing as other books like FanDuel or DraftKings. Some customers have reported some app performance issues—though we haven't come across this in our testing.

If you're looking for a new Mastercard sports betting app to add to your lineup, Betway is a great option to consider.

Using Mastercard for Depositing Into a Sportsbook Account

In case you have no prior experience depositing with your Mastercard debit or credit card, check out the following instructions to learn everything you need to know:

How to Deposit in Your Sportsbook Account with Mastercard

You can transfer the funds from your card to your online sportsbook balance in a few easy steps.

  1. Log in (or register if you haven’t yet) on the sportsbook platform of your choice.
  2. Navigate to the cashier section and select Mastercard as a deposit option.
  3. Connect your Mastercard by providing the required information (your card number, security code, and expiration date).
  4. Enter the amount you’d like to deposit.
  5. Proceed with the deposit.

Minimum & Maximum Mastercard Deposit Limits

Different sportsbooks have different requirements for minimum and maximum deposit limits. For most cards, the minimum is usually between $10 and $20, whereas the maximum is between $1,500 and $5,000.
Please remember that your maximum deposit limit can increase on some sportsbooks if you’re an active bettor for a long time and join a VIP/loyalty program.

Mastercard Deposit Speed

In most cases, deposits are usually instant. Note that this term is used loosely here—each card transfer needs a couple of seconds before it’s processed. Sometimes, however, you might have to wait up to several minutes.

Mastercard Fees

Mastercard deposits are usually free. However, Mastercard might charge a small fee if your deposit is processed as a cash advance.

Pros & Cons of Depositing With Mastercard

Pros

  • Some Mastercard cards earn rewards (miles, points, cash back, etc.) for spending.
  • Deposits are usually instant.
  • Mastercard is one of the most secure payment options.
  • The deposit process is easy, as you only need to provide your credit card information.

Cons

  • The maximum limits for deposits and withdrawals might be smaller compared to other payment methods on some sportsbooks.
  • If you make a large deposit using your credit card, you can increase your credit card utilization rate significantly, possibly impacting your credit score. It’s best to keep utilization—which is the balance on your card divided by your credit limit—under 30% if possible.
  • Deposits might not always be approved.
  • You can create debt if you use a credit card recklessly.

Using Mastercard to Withdraw From a Sportsbook Account

Unfortunately, it’s not possible to withdraw your funds to a Mastercard credit card. Credit cards are one-way transaction methods, meaning you can use them to purchase goods and services but not cash out your winnings to them.

Many popular US sportsbooks offer a range of withdrawal options, with the most popular ones being:

  • PayPal
  • Skrill
  • ACH
  • Bank transfer
  • Check
  • Cash at cage
  • Play+ card (if available)
  • Venmo (see Venmo betting sites here)

Withdrawals aren’t instant. Even if you use PayPal, which is widely regarded as the fastest withdrawal method, you’ll still have to wait up to three business days before your payout request is processed.

If you value getting your money quickly, check out our guide to the sportsbooks with the fastest payouts.

Mastercard vs. Other Sportsbook Deposit Methods

There’s no one-size-fits-all for sportsbook deposit methods. Even though Mastercard is considered perfect by some bettors, others prefer different options. Let’s quickly see how Mastercard compares to them:

  • PayPal – PayPal and many other wallets give you a chance to avoid using banks. They securely store your funds online and make payments easy and convenient, and you can fund your PayPal account using a card or via a checking account. Moreover, you can use PayPal for withdrawals with lower overall fees, although they are a bit higher compared to Mastercard. You can see the best PayPal betting sites here.
  • Online bank transfer – If your bank allows gambling-related transactions and you live in a state where this type of deposit and withdrawal option is available, you can use your e-banking app to make a payment.
  • Play+ card – Play+ is a branded card accepted by many online gambling platforms. You can apply for it on the sportsbook of your choice, and it will be affiliated with your account, helping you make quick deposits and withdrawals while avoiding using your bank.
  • PayNearMe – If you don’t have a bank account or a credit card, you can go to your nearest 7-Eleven, make a deposit, and receive a code you need to input on deposit to fund your sportsbook balance.
  • Cash @ Cage – Online sportsbooks are usually connected to land-based casinos, meaning you can deposit and withdraw funds when visiting the related gambling property. This method is usually instant, and players can deposit much more money than Mastercard deposits (or any other deposit for that matter). Still, it involves getting to the casino, which may not be an option for some.

Only Deposit What You Can Afford to Pay Off That Month

If you decide to proceed with using your Mastercard credit card with your sportsbook account, please remember to gamble responsibly

Gambling can be addictive, and some players might get carried away and deposit more than they can afford.

If you have to spend more on your credit card than you can afford to pay off that month, you’ll be charged interest on that money which can be very expensive as credit card interest rates are often 15% to 30%.

For this reason, it’s crucial to only charge your card with what you can pay off that month. If you don’t, you may find yourself in a debt spiral that can be hard to get out of.
