Maryland legalized sports betting through a ballot measure in 2020. Retail sportsbooks opened in December 2021 and online betting went live in November 2022.
Now, Maryland has 11 online sportsbooks in action, including my favorites: FanDuel, Caesars, and BetMGM. I rotate between these three based on what I need, but I also use BetRivers, Fanatics, and others when I’m chasing bonuses and for line shopping.
Below is a quick look at the Maryland sports betting landscape, covering the best online sportsbooks and a few legal points you’ll want to keep in mind.
List of All Maryland Sportsbooks
Maryland can host up to 60 online sportsbooks, but the market isn’t nearly maxed out yet. Currently, 11 online sportsbooks are up and running, with Betfred recently stepping out. The current lineup includes established brands and small homegrown operators that only run in Maryland.
Here are my top picks for betting sites in Maryland and what they’re best at:
- FanDuel: Best Overall Sportsbook in Maryland
- Caesars: Best Odds Boosts at MD Sportsbooks
- BetMGM: Best MD Sportsbook for Spread Betting
- DraftKings: Best Sportsbook in Maryland for Betting on Niche Sports
- BetRivers: Best Soccer Odds Among MD Betting Sites
- Fanatics: Best Maryland Sportsbook for Heavy Bettors
- LetsBetMD: Double Welcome Bonus
- ESPN BET: Best Sportsbook in Maryland for Betting on Totals
- Bally Bet: Good Rewards Program
- betPARX: Big Welcome Bonus
- Crab Sports: Nice Features
1) FanDuel: Best Overall Sportsbook in Maryland
FanDuel was one of the first sportsbooks to kick off in Maryland on November 23, 2022. They’re partnered with Live! Casino & Hotel, where they run their retail sportsbook.
FanDuel is also the official betting partner of the Baltimore Orioles, but this partnership is more about promotions and branding—there’s no retail sportsbook at Camden Yards.
FanDuel is my top-rated and favorite sportsbook in Maryland for a few reasons. First, they offer the best overall odds of all MD betting sites. Second, their prop bet selection is stacked, especially regarding NFL betting. I love their season leader props, where you can bet on who’ll lead the league in passing yards, touchdowns, sacks, and other stats.
Innovation is another strong suit for FanDuel. Their latest feature, Pulse, puts a fresh spin on micro-betting, letting you place live bets based on how the game flows. Plus, they’re pioneers of Same Game Parlays and have taken it up a notch with the “+” version, allowing you to mix SGPs across different games—like betting on two players to hit the over on passing yards in a Ravens game and pairing it with two bets from an Orioles game.
If I had to nitpick (and I do because FanDuel is that good), I’d like to see more UFC futures options instead of just the usual fight-by-fight bets. Also, FanDuel tends to push parlays a bit too much in their promos and features. I’d prefer more offers focused on straight bets, which are much more profitable in the long run.
FanDuel Sportsbook Quick Facts:
- OA BetReview Rating: 94/100
- Sign-Up Bonus: Bet $5, Get $150 Bonus If Your Bet Wins
- Best Features: Odds competitiveness, market variety
- Biggest Drawbacks: No sportsbook rewards program, not many daily odds boosts
- Number of Sports: 21+
- Payout Speed: Up to 5 business days (typically faster)
- Rewards Program: DFS & Casino only

2) Caesars: Best Odds Boosts at MD Sportsbooks
Caesars has been in Maryland since day one, launching on November 23, 2022. Their retail partner is Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore, where they run a land-based sportsbook.
Caesars also has an official partnership with the Baltimore Ravens, which includes branding, promotions, and the Caesars Sportsbook Lounge at M&T Bank Stadium.
While Caesars is often praised for being user-friendly, their odds boosts really stand out to me. They offer over 40 odds boosts daily across various sports. Most of these are focused on the major leagues, so you can count on at least a couple of boosts every time the Colts, Ravens, or Orioles are in action. They cap the max bet at $100, but that's much higher than most competitors.
Caesars Rewards is another big draw, especially since you can redeem your online Rewards Credits at Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore for different perks.
One downside is that their customer support can be slow, sometimes taking up to two days to respond. Plus, they occasionally post lines later than other major sportsbooks, making it tough to catch early value.
Caesars Quick Facts:
- OA BetReview Rating: 93/100
- Sign-Up Bonus: Bet $1, Get 2x Winnings on Next 20 Bets
- Best Features: Loyalty program, user-friendly UX
- Biggest Drawbacks: Slower payout speeds, sluggish customer service
- Number of Sports: 23+
- Payout Speed: Up to 72 hours
- Rewards Program: Caesars Rewards

3) BetMGM: Best MD Sportsbook for Spread Betting
BetMGM was one of the early birds in Maryland, launching on November 23, 2022. They’re connected to MGM National Harbor Casino, where you’ll find their BetMGM sportsbook & lounge for retail betting.
BetMGM is also the official betting partner of the Baltimore Ravens, so you’ll see their branding all over M&T Bank Stadium.
From my detailed analysis, BetMGM consistently offers the best odds for spread bets. While other books occasionally have slightly better odds for specific games, BetMGM generally charges lower vig on spreads than the competition.
One feature I like at BetMGM is Edit My Bet. This lets you tweak your active bets—change up your picks, swap them out, or drop one entirely. For example, if you’ve bet on the Ravens, Orioles, and Colts but have second thoughts about the Colts, you can easily remove that bet and let the others ride.
Where BetMGM needs to improve is in user experience. I’ve run into login issues, freezes, and other bugs more often than I’d like. Their prop bets can also be a bit lacking compared to other books.
BetMGM Quick Facts:
- OA BetReview Rating: 84/100
- Sign-Up Bonus: Up to $1,500 in bonus bets
- Best Features: Edit My Bet, NFL rewards
- Biggest Drawbacks: Quickly limits sharps, UX can be a bit buggy
- Number of Sports: 19+
- Payout Speed: Up to 24 hours
- Rewards Program: MGM Rewards

4) DraftKings: Best Sportsbook in Maryland for Betting on Niche Sports
DraftKings debuted in Maryland on November 23, 2022. They’re partnered with Timonium Racetrack and are set to open a retail sportsbook there soon.
DraftKings is also the official betting and daily fantasy partner of the Baltimore Ravens. As part of the deal, you’ll find DraftKings branding and custom content in the Ravens’ weekly podcast, “The Lounge,” and other media outlets.
I like to explore different betting avenues, and DraftKings is the best sportsbook in Maryland for trying out unique stuff. Not only do they cover offbeat sports like Jai Alai, but they also offer a rich array of betting options for those niche sports. For example, DK is the only book in Maryland offering futures bets on UFC events, such as the number of punches thrown in a fight card or creative race props for NASCAR Cup races.
I also like their customizable odds boosts, where you can apply a boost token to the market of your choice.
However, my biggest issue with DraftKings is their aggressive approach to limiting successful bettors, a practice that’s been well-documented on various forums and subreddits. Also, their odds tend to be weaker than some of the other top books on this list.
DraftKings Sportsbook Quick Facts:
- OA BetReview Rating: 84/100
- Sign-Up Bonus: Bet $5, get $300 in bonus bets + $200 off NFL Sunday Ticket
- Best Features: Market depth, profit boost tokens
- Biggest Drawbacks: Odds not always competitive, quickly limit winners
- Number of Sports: 25+
- Payout Speed: Up to 5 business days
- Rewards Program: Dynasty Rewards

5) BetRivers: Best Sports Coverage Among MD Betting Sites
BetRivers launched in Maryland on November 23, 2022. They’re linked with Bingo World in Baltimore, where they operate a retail sportsbook.
BetRivers stands out for offering the most comprehensive sports coverage of any sportsbook in Maryland. You’ll find odds on up to 29 sports, though this can vary by season as some sports are offered only at specific times of the year. You're likely to find it here whether you’re into netball, surfing, or snooker.
What I also like about BetRivers is how easy it is to get help. Their live chat button is always available, no matter where you are on the site. The live chat button is always within reach, no matter where you are on the site. BetRivers is one of the fastest payout betting sites—I’ve had cashouts hit my account in less than 24 hours.
If you’re betting on soccer or teaser bets in Maryland, BetRivers should be in your rotation. They consistently have some of the best odds for both.
That said, I do have a few gripes. The site’s usability can be frustrating, with an annoying newsfeed and constant promotional pop-ups that get in the way. I’ve also experienced connection issues more often than I’d like.
BetRivers Quick Facts:
- OA BetReview Rating: 82/100
- Sign-Up Bonus: Second chance bet up to $500 depending on state
- Best Features: Fast payouts, competitive teaser and soccer odds
- Biggest Drawbacks: Functionality issues, limits successful bettors quickly
- Number of Sports: 29+
- Payout Speed: Up to 5 business days (usually within a day)
- Rewards Program: iRush Rewards

6) Fanatics Sportsbook: Best Maryland Sportsbook for Heavy Bettors
Fanatics went live in Maryland in August 2023 before taking over PointsBet. They’re partnered with the Washington Commanders and have a retail sportsbook at FedEx Field. They also operate a brick-and-mortar betting shop at the Riverboat on the Potomac.
Fanatics is worth checking out for their cashback program if you’re the kind of bettor who likes to bet big. With every bet, you earn FanCash that can be used for gear or converted into bonus bets. You get 1% back on straight bets, 3% on parlays, and 5% on same-game parlays, which adds up quickly if you’re a frequent bettor.
The app is another strong point. It’s fast and responsive, so whether you’re placing a bet or managing your account, you won’t deal with any lag or slowdowns.
Fanatics also offers live streaming on select games. Bet $1 or more, and you can stream the game through the app, including matchups featuring the Ravens, Colts, and Orioles.
On the downside, the interface can feel clunky and sometimes difficult to navigate. They’ve also gotten some heat for imposing strict betting limits on successful bettors on forums, which can be frustrating if you’re on a hot streak.
Fanatics Sportsbook Quick Facts:
- OA BetReview Rating: 81/100
- Sign-Up Bonus: Bet & Get Up to $2k in FanCash
- Best Features: Valuable sign-up bonus, competitive prop odds
- Biggest Drawbacks: Confusing interface, no desktop site, quick to limit winners
- Number of Sports: 15
- Payout Speed: Up to 3 business days
- Rewards Program: FanCash Rewards

7) LetsBetMD: Double Welcome Bonus
LetsBetMD is a Maryland-native sportsbook that launched on July 1, 2024. It’s operated by Veteran Services Corporation and built specifically for local bettors.
One of the highlights is the two-part welcome offer. New users get a single no sweat bet followed by a full week of no sweat betting. Returning players can tap into ongoing promos, including early payout offers on select soccer markets.
Live betting is where LetsBetMD feels most polished. The Face ID login makes it easy to get in fast, and that’s important when odds shift quickly. The platform also supports micro betting across multiple sports, letting you wager on in-game moments instead of full outcomes.
Minimum deposit is just $5, which makes it easy to test the waters without putting much on the line.
That said, there are trade-offs. Odds across most markets are weaker than what you'll find at major MD sportsbooks. Also missing are standard odds boosts, a feature that’s become expected elsewhere.
LetsBetMD Quick Facts:
- OA BetReview Rating: 74/100
- Sign-Up Bonus: $500 No Sweat Bets
- Best Features: Micro betting, Face ID login
- Biggest Drawbacks: Subpar odds and market variety
- Number of Sports: 15+
- Payout Speed: 1 to 5 banking days
- Rewards Program: No

8) ESPN BET: Best Sportsbook in Maryland for Betting on Totals
ESPN BET launched in Maryland on November 14, 2023. They don’t have a local partner or a retail sportsbook yet, but they’ve quickly made a name for themselves.
If you’re into betting on totals, ESPN BET is the go-to in Maryland. Whether it’s the Ravens, Colts, or Orioles, they consistently offer the best odds on over/under bets. My analysis found that they take a smaller vig than other major books, making them the best option for this type of bet.
Another thing I like about ESPN BET is their odds boosts. They don’t have a ton, but the ones they offer are valuable. For example, they often boost markets in the +120 range for realistic bets, like a straight moneyline bet on the Ravens—not just long-shot outcomes.
Banking is another area where ESPN BET excels. They offer over ten deposit options, including Apple Pay and Venmo, which you don’t see on many other sites.
Like many big books, ESPN BET has strict betting limits, and they’ve already caught some flak for this, even though they’re new to the market.
ESPN BET Quick Facts:
- OA BetReview Rating: 73/100
- Sign-Up Bonus: Bet $10, Get $100 in Bonus Bets
- Best Features: Sports variety, competitive pre-game odds
- Biggest Drawbacks: Subpar user experience, not many features
- Number of Sports: 20+
- Payout Speed: 1 to 5 banking days
- Rewards Program: PENN Play Program
9) Bally Bet: Good Rewards Program
Bally Bet went live in Maryland in July 2024, making it the newest sportsbook in the state. They’ve got a solid rewards program and a nice welcome bonus, so they’re worth a look.
10) betPARX: Big Welcome Bonus
BetPARX launched in Maryland on August 11, 2023. They’re partnered with Greenmount OTB and run two retail sportsbooks at Green Turtle Restaurants in Towson and Baltimore.
11) Crab Sports: Nice Features
Crab Sports is a local Maryland sportsbook launched on July 13, 2023. They offer a good rewards program with local perks through their partner, Route One Apparel.
LetsBetMD, another Maryland-native book, launched on July 1, 2024. They don’t have a desktop platform, but their mobile apps are sharp and easy to use.
