SugarHouse online casino launched in New Jersey in 2016, and the sportsbook became available two years after that, becoming the third official online sports betting site to open in The Garden State. In August 2022, SugarHouse NJ rebranded as BetRivers NJ. BetRivers NJ is licensed by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement and is partnered with Golden Nugget Casino in Atlantic City. New players are eligible for a Second Chance Bet Up to $250.

SugarHouse opened the first official land-based sportsbook in Pennsylvania in December 2018, and the live sportsbook opened a couple of months after that. The sports betting service is partnered with Rush Street Gaming’s Rivers Casino Philadelphia, where you can find the SugarHouse retail sportsbook. SugarHouse is a Rush Street Gaming family member, which is why it had an opportunity to be the first on the PA market.

SugarHouse became one of the first 3 legal online sportsbooks in Connecticut in October 2021. Rush Street Interactive, the parent company of SugarHouse, partnered with the CT Lottery to start operating in the state. In March 2023, SugarHouse shutdown operations in CT.

Signing Up for SugarHouse Sportsbook

You don’t have to be a resident of Pennsylvania or New Jersey to register for SugarHouse, but you must be located in one of the states to place bets. The only other restriction is that you must be at least 21 years old.

To sign up for an account, you’ll have to fill out some basic information including:

  • Name
  • ZIP Code
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Gender
  • Security questions
  • Phone number
  • Last 4 digits of Social Security number

After filling out this information, you may be asked to upload a government-issued ID (such as a driver’s license or passport) to verify your identity.
