This guide will go over the sports betting options in Wyoming and its current legal situation. We’ll update it over time so you can always find the best online sportsbooks in WY and stay up-to-date on laws, requirements, and everything else you need to know.

The perks of the Caesars Sportsbook don't end after you take advantage of the intro bonus, either. They offer some of the most competitive odds in the industry and have attractive ongoing promotions and odds boosts to help you win more.

Caesars also offers all major sports and bet types—including same game parlays that allow you to combine sides, totals, and prop bets from the same game in one parlay.

The Caesars Sportsbook app is also one of the best available in the nation. It's easy to navigate, is very responsive, and rarely crashes or has other issues.

New players receive $200 in bonus bets if their first $5+ bet wins. Your bonus bets will be credited within 72 hours of your first wager winning and you have 7 days to use them. Access the promo with our exclusive link here.

FanDuel is tied as our highest-rated sportsbook thanks to the competitive odds, generous promotions and odds boosts, variety of bet types and sports to wager on, and a great user experience on both the website and mobile app.

The Bet $5, Get $200 in Bonus Bets sign-up bonus if one of the best of all legal sportsbooks since it only requires a $10 deposit and $5 bet to receive 30x your initial bet if it wins. FanDuel's welcome bonus gives you the opportunity to build a nice bankroll to start off betting with.

FanDuel pioneered the “Same Game Parlay” and offers the smoothest and most complete process for betting them. With these, you can combine prop bets, totals, and sides from the same game in a single parlay. If you've ever seen screenshots of ridiculous parlays from a single game online, it was likely a Same Game Parlay from FanDuel.

Whether you are looking for a single sportsbook to use or want to add another book to your lineup of options, FanDuel Sportsbook is one of the best options currently available. There's a reason FanDuel dominates market share in the U.S. and we think you'll be very satisfied if you decide to go with them.

Of all the sportsbooks we've analyzed, BetMGM has the best customer reviews. On the Apple App Store, BetMGM has an average of 4.8 stars from over 87 thousand reviews.

The sports betting market in Wyoming is currently stripped back and includes only two operators. That said, the Wyoming Gaming Commission hasn’t imposed a cap on the number of licenses, so there’s plenty of growth potential.

Other Online Sportsbooks Expected to Launch in Wyoming Soon

The new law requires the Wyoming Gaming Commission to issue at least five licenses to online sportsbooks, provided there are enough qualified applicants, and it doesn’t set a maximum.

The regulations also imply that the candidates must be active in three other states to qualify for application, which means that we will see creme de la creme operators available in Wyoming.

So far, only DraftKings and BetMGM have received regulatory approval, although it’s reported that several elite brands have a keen eye on the Cowboy State. Penn National Gaming-owned Barstool as well as FanDuel have submitted letters of intent to the WGC, and they're likely to hop on the bandwagon in the coming months. Other heavy hitters, including PointsBet and Caesars, have also shown interest in the market.

Lack of Physical Sportsbooks in Wyoming

Right now, Wyoming utilizes the online-only sports betting model. However, there are two tribal entities in the state that own four casino venues. The tribes can offer class III gaming as per the compact and don’t require state approval to launch betting shops on their premises.

Consequently, this means that Wyoming can become an all-inclusive betting state in the foreseeable future.

In 2020, the Northern Arapaho Tribe announced plans to add sports betting to its gaming operations. They haven’t published any timelines regarding these launches, but here are the potential locations in Wyoming that may offer retail sports betting at some point:

  • Wind River Hotel & Casino: 180 Red Wolf Place, Riverton
  • Little Wind Casino: 800 Blue Sky Highway, Ethete
  • 789 Smokeshop & Casino: 10369 Highway 789, Riverton
  • Shoshone Rose Casino & Hotel: 5690 U.S. Highway 287, Lander

Wyoming Sports Betting Timeline

Wyoming was very efficient in establishing a legal framework. It set regulations and rolled out the first books within a year of the first legislation being introduced to the House of Representatives.

Let’s go over the key dates and milestones that paved the way for legal sports betting in Wyoming:

  • Feb 14, 2020: Representative Tom Walters introduces HB225, a bill that would legalize statewide sports betting in Wyoming. The operators would use the online-only model and be required to pay 10% in taxes.
  • Feb 28, 2020: HB225 doesn’t pass the House after a close 32-27 vote.
  • Oct 22, 2020: The Northern Arapaho Tribe announces plans to launch sports betting at Wind River Hotel & Casino and other Tribal establishments in Wyoming.
  • February 24, 2021: HB 113 is brought forth to the House of Representatives. Similar to HB225, HB113 would authorize sports betting in Wyoming.
  • March 10, 2021: After rejecting the bill a day earlier, the House of Representatives reconsiders and approves HB 113 after a 32-28 vote. The legislature moves on to be reviewed by the State Senate.
  • March 29, 2021: The Senate passes HB 113 by landslide majority (24-5). It now goes to Governor Mark Gordon for signature.
  • April 6, 2021: Governor signs HB 113 into law, and online sports betting becomes legal in Wyoming.
  • July 15, 2021: The WGC, which was appointed as the main regulatory body for sports betting in Wyoming, releases a draft of the proposed sports betting regulations. The public has 45 days to provide feedback on the proposed sports betting rules.

Wyoming Sports Betting Rules and Regulations

Getting started at Wyoming books is a walk in the park, especially for tech-savvy bettors. Still, you have to meet a few legal requirements to place real-money bets in the state. We’ve highlighted the most significant ones below.

Who Is Allowed to Bet in Wyoming?

Any individual that’s 18+ and located in Wyoming can legally place bets with Wyoming books. You can put some cash down on your favorite sports teams via your chosen sportsbook’s website or mobile app. You can sign up for an account outside Wyoming, but you have to be present in the state while submitting your bet.

The registration process is uniform in format; you have to submit the following information:

  • Full name
  • Address
  • Username and
  • password
  • Email
  • Cell number
  • Social Security number

On the off chance the sportsbook can’t verify the information you provided during registration, you’ll need to send additional proof of ID and address, namely passport, license, bank statement, and/or utility bill (no older than six months).

How Are Wyoming Sportsbooks Licensed and Taxed?

The online-only system coupled with lenient tax rates and application fees makes for an operator-friendly climate for sportsbooks in Wyoming. The WGA estimates that the market could generate as much as $449 million annually, despite the state having the lowest population in the country.

Let’s dive into the regulatory specifics with regards to licensing and tax rates:

  • The initial fee is set at $100,000 for a five-year permit.
  • Once the five-year licensing period expires, operators must pay a $50,000 renewal fee.
  • Licensed operators are subject to 10% tax on wagering revenue.

Is Geolocation Required?

Yes, customers are required to be physically present in Wyoming to bet. The sportsbooks use various geolocation software, like GeoComply, to pinpoint the exact locations of their users.

You’ll have to download a geolocation plugin if you’re betting from your PC or laptop. Mobile devices have GPS trackers that casinos can use to verify your location while betting on the go —no need to download anything.

Are Any Types of Bets Not Allowed?

There aren’t any restrictions when it comes to the types of sports bets you can make at Wyoming books. You can toss cash in on a wide variety of professional and college sports and even bet on esports contests.

Crypto Transactions

Wyoming is the first state to allow the use of cryptocurrencies for sportsbook transactions. You can deposit, withdraw or place bets using digital, crypto, and virtual currencies. The only string attached is that the currency must be transferable into cash.
