A “team to win every quarter” bet refers to whether or not the team you choose will outscore its opponent in every quarter of the game It's primarily offered in basketball and football games.

If the team you choose outscores its opponent in each individual quarter, you win your bet. Even if the team is in the lead the whole game, but get outscored in a single quarter, you would lose your bet.

For example, if the Kansas City Chiefs are playing the Houston Texans and you think the Chiefs will dominate, you may choose to bet the Chiefs to win every quarter.

Here is a scenario where you would win your bet:

  • First Quarter: Chiefs score 10, Texans score 3
  • Second Quarter: Chiefs score 7, Texans score 0
  • Third Quarter: Chiefs score 13, Texans score 10
  • Fourth Quarter: Chiefs score 7, Texans score 3

Here is a scenario where you would lose your bet, on the other hand:

  • First Quarter: Chiefs score 10, Texans score 3
  • Second Quarter: Chiefs score 7, Texans score 0
  • Third Quarter: Chiefs score 3, Texans score 10
  • Fourth Quarter: Chiefs score 7, Texans score 3

In the example above, the Texans outscored the Chiefs in the third quarter, so you would lose your bet.

You should really only bet a “team to win every quarter” market if you think one team is going to easily dominate the whole game. Even then, they can be challenging to win as a team that is up big may decide to rest their starters or waste time, potentially leading to scoring fewer points and getting outscored for one quarter.

“Team to win every quarter” bets are harder to win and, therefore, aren't viable for building a long-term sports betting strategy, in our opinion.
