New York ranks among the top U.S. states in sports betting handle. The Empire State welcomed retail sports betting in 2019 and rolled out mobile betting in 2021. Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the online sportsbook legislation in April, and the final regulations were established by November 2021. Online sports betting officially started on January 8, 2022.

1) FanDuel: Best Overall Sportsbook in New York
FanDuel partnered with Tioga Downs to launch in its home state and operates a retail sportsbook at the casino resort. It’s also the official betting partner of the New York Yankees.
FanDuel is flat out the top sportsbook in New York. They don’t drop the ball in any area and consistently excel at what they do. They have the best odds of any U.S. sportsbook and get lines out before everyone else, giving you the chance to catch some great value early.
FanDuel’s biggest claim to fame is the depth of its props markets. They offer creative seasonal props in the NFL, including lines for the running back with the most rushing yards and specials like a quarterback throwing over 4,000 passing yards in a season. They also provide various props per game for major and other sports. In tennis, for example, you can find unique props like the score after the first two games of a set.
FanDuel offers the best user experience of any New York sportsbook, as evidenced by their stellar mobile app ratings. It's also big on innovation, constantly updating its offerings—the newest being Pulse, which focuses on micro-betting markets. For example, in a Knicks playoff game, they might offer a unique live bet around the mid-second quarter, such as “Jalen Brunson to notch 30 points by halftime,” if he's tearing it up from the jump.
It's tough to find faults with FanDuel, but if I had to pick a nit, it’d be that they push parlays a lot. These are low-value bets and beginners can quickly get swept up in the flashy parlay options and promotions.

2) Caesars: Best Bettor Incentives Among New York Betting Sites
Caesars has partnered with the New York Mets to boost their footprint in the New York betting market. They operate three land-based sportsbooks: Point Place Casino, Turning Stone Resort Casino, and Yellow Brick Road Casino.
If you’re picking a sportsbook based on the perks offered, Caesars is your best bet. They consistently provide one of the most competitive welcome bonuses. Moreover, they dish out a vast array of daily odds boosts (sometimes 40+) and other great perks for regular users, like a referral bonus where you can earn $100 for each friend you bring on board.
The crown jewel of Caesars’ incentives is its loyalty program, which is arguably the industry’s best. You can earn points online and redeem them for benefits like discounted hotel stays, shopping vouchers, or freebies at Caesars’ retail locations in Atlantic City, a short drive from NYC.
Although it’s sometimes overlooked because of Caesars' other qualities, their odds on straight bets are some of the best. If you plan to bet on the Jets or Giants, Caesars will often give you the best bang for your buck—whether you’re going for the spread, moneyline, or totals. Another underrated benefit of Caesars is that they are much more lenient when limiting successful bettors than other major sportsbooks.
Caesars is generally a great book, but there are a couple of downsides to keep in mind. First, their customer support can be sluggish, often taking too long to respond. They also process cashouts slower than most other major sportsbooks.

3) BetMGM: Best Sports Coverage Among NY Sportsbooks
BetMGM broke into the New York market by affiliation with MGM Resorts' Empire City Casino in Yonkers. They also teamed up with Madison Square Garden, which means you'll see their branding all over Knicks and Rangers games. And with their recent partnership with the Yankees, they've locked in their appeal to New York sports fans.
The range of sports at BetMGM is unmatched. They cover uncommon sports like archery, canoeing, and rowing—stuff you don’t usually see at other New York sportsbooks. You can also find odds for popular niche sports like beach volleyball, badminton, and lacrosse.
BetMGM is one of the only sportsbooks in New York that has localized offerings. It offers unique promos and bets tailored to games featuring the Nets, Rangers, Knicks, and other NY pro teams.
I’m a big fan of BetMGM's bet management features, especially Edit My Bet and partial cash outs. These tools are handy for handling active bets and can help your betting game.
However, BetMGM's user experience could be better. The app tends to lag, and sometimes you have to double-click to access certain features, which is annoying when trying to place a bet quickly.

4) DraftKings: Best NY Sportsbook for Futures Betting
DraftKings got into the New York market by partnering with del Lago Resort & Casino in Seneca County, where they also run a retail sportsbook. They've teamed up with several NY pro teams, including the Giants, Rangers, and Knicks.
Everyone’s hyping up DraftKings’ prop bets, but I’m more impressed with their futures betting options. You can bet on things like the Mets finishing the season as the #5 seed in the National League, the Yankees recording 90+ regular-season wins, or which team a star player will join to throw the first regular-season pitch before the trade deadline.
DraftKings has a great live betting platform. The odds are solid and update fast, and they've got a fantastic variety of in-play markets plus live streaming via their DK Live service. Their micro-betting options are awesome, too. For example, you can bet who will win the next game or even the next point in a US Open tennis match at Flushing Meadows.
I regularly visit DK for their ongoing promotions, especially the Pools freerolls, where you can win big prizes by outplaying other users. Their stats hub is another standout feature, providing quick access to trends and stats that would otherwise take forever to dig up.
That said, DraftKings isn’t without its flaws. Its pre-game odds are often subpar, and they’re infamous for cutting off successful bettors and sharps with very low bet caps.

5) BetRivers: Best NY Sportsbook for NFL Betting
BetRivers online sportsbook secured its spot in New York through its retail property, Rivers Casino & Resort, in Schenectady. While they haven’t teamed up with any NY sports teams, they did score an exclusive partnership with Mike Francesa, a renowned NY broadcaster.
I use several sportsbooks for football, but I usually end up at BetRivers. They often offer the best NFL odds and top-notch lines for 2-team 6-point teasers, my favorite football bets.
BetRivers covers an insane range of sports, with nearly 30 options depending on the season. You can bet on everything from surfing and handball to netball, table tennis, snooker, and volleyball.
Another thing I dig about BetRivers is how creative they get with promotions. You’ll find fantastic offers like insurance bets, and parlay boosts for different sports.
One area where BetRivers could improve is their user experience. I often encounter connection speed errors, which can be a total buzzkill when I'm rushing to place a live bet. The pop-up after logging in is also pretty annoying, and the newsfeed on the right in the desktop view takes up way too much space and gets in the way.

6) Fanatics: Best Features Among NY Sportsbooks
Fanatics launched in New York on February 29, 2024, making it one of the newest sportsbooks in the state. In April 2024, Fanatics acquired PointsBet's U.S. assets and picked up the New York license as part of the deal.
In my opinion, Fanatics is one of the few up-and-coming sportsbooks that can really challenge the heavy hitters. I really like the features they offer, especially Discover, an AI-powered tool that personalizes your experience by suggesting promotions and betting options based on your history and preferences.
They're also one of the few sportsbooks offering partial cash outs and SGP+, which they call SGP Stack. This tool allows you to combine multiple picks from one game with selections from another; for instance, you can pair two bets from a Yankees game with three from a Knicks game.
Fanatics has the second-best odds in New York, trailing only FanDuel, so I recommend keeping them in your line-shopping rotation, especially for prop bets where they really shine. One of my favorite features is their FanCash rewards program, which gives you a percentage back on every bet. You can redeem these rewards for gear from the Fanatics online store or use them for bonus bets.
One thing that bugs me about Fanatics is that they don’t have a desktop platform. Mobile betting is awesome, but they totally left out bettors who prefer using their computers.

7) Bally Bet: Good Bonuses
Bally Bet was one of the nine sportsbooks approved by the NYS Gaming Commission to launch on day one. They took a five-month break from the market but came back after teaming up with White Hat Gaming for their player management software. Bally Bet is one of the betting partners of the New York Yankees.
8) Resorts World Bet: Offers Points Betting
Resorts World Bet entered the New York market through its affiliation with Resorts World Casino in New York City. This affiliation allows Resorts World Bet to operate legally within the state. Resorts World Bet launched its mobile sports betting platform in New York in March 2022, shortly after the state legalized online sports betting. It’s the only sportsbook in the U.S. that offers Point Betting.
