New Jersey was ground zero for online sports betting in the U.S. It’s where PASPA got overturned, setting off the betting wave we see today. The first sportsbooks in NJ launched in August 2018, with some of the biggest brands in the game jumping in right away.
Of the 13 active online sportsbooks in NJ, FanDuel, Caesars, and bet365 are my top choices. I also keep BetRivers, Fanatics, and DraftKings in my betting rotation for odds hopping and promotions.
This guide gives a list of all current New Jersey sportsbooks, including both online and retail books, and goes over important information about betting in NJ.

There are 13 active online sportsbooks in New Jersey, which is a significant drop considering there were once 27 betting apps serving the state. By law, every online sportsbook must partner with a licensed casino or racetrack to get a permit.

1) FanDuel: Best Overall Sportsbook in NJ
FanDuel has secured its spot in the NJ market through partnerships with Meadowlands Racetrack and Valley Forge Casino Resort, where it operates a retail sportsbook. It’s also partnered with pro teams like the New Jersey Devils.
I recommend FanDuel for NJ bettors because they crush it in all important areas. They’ve got the most competitive odds, my favorite app design, and innovative features like Pulse for live betting.
FanDuel also smokes the competition with its market variety. Futures markets are where they shine in particular. If you’ve got a read on the Jets' season, for example, you can put action on things like them being the last undefeated team or having the best regular season record.
I really love how FanDuel offers alternate season win totals for pro football. You can bet on the Giants to win over 3.5 games or, if you’re feeling bold, over 5.5 wins.
FanDuel also always has multiple promos running all the time, especially for major sports like the NFL, NCAAF, NBA, MLB, and NHL. You’ll see profit boosts from 50% to 100% for things like Same Game Parlays, live bets, and pre-game moneyline bets, as well as parlay insurance and other ways to get bonus bets.
What doesn’t sit well with me is how hard they push parlays, whether through parlay builders or promos centered on these lower-value bets. It’d also be great if they launched a loyalty program to give sports bettors a little extra for sticking around—something many of their competitors already do.

2) Caesars: Best Odds Boosts Among NJ Betting Sites
Caesars was one of the first sportsbooks to go live in NJ, launching in September 2018 under Monmouth Park’s license. In Atlantic City, they run retail sportsbooks at Wild Wild West, Tropicana, and Harrah’s.
Caesars is also partnered with the New Jersey Devils, adding another local touch to their NJ presence.
Caesars is the top dog in NJ when it comes to odds boosts. They drop as many as 80 boosts daily. Most fall in the +200 to +350 range, so it’s not just about throwing out longshots—there’s real value to be found. For example, I recently took a boosted parlay on Aaron Rodgers to hit 200+ pass yards and 2+ TDs at +180 (boosted from +150).
I also dig how they spread the boosts across various sports, not just the mainstream ones. I’ve seen boosts on NASCAR, UFC, golf, and even soccer.
Caesars also has a strong futures market for the NHL. If you want to make long-term calls on the Jets, you can bet on things like how many points they’ll score in the regular season, total TDs, or whether Robert Salah will win coach of the year.
Another big perk for NJ bettors is the Caesars Rewards program. The loyalty points you earn online can be redeemed for benefits at Caesars properties in AC, bonus bets, and more.
That said, not everything’s perfect. Their prop bet odds can be hit or miss, and withdrawals can sometimes take longer than I'd like.

3) bet365: Most Innovative Sportsbook in New Jersey
bet365 launched in NJ in August 2019, with Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City as their land-based partner.
A lot of the features we take for granted today, like live streaming and live betting, were pioneered by bet365. Their knack for innovation continues with features like Partial Cash Outs and Edit My Bet, which I use regularly.
Edit My Bet gives you more flexibility by letting you tweak your selections while the games are still in play. For example, let’s say you’ve got a parlay with the Devils, Giants, and Jets to win. After the Devils and Giants take care of business, you second-guess the Jets because a key player gets injured. With Edit My Bet, you can reduce your stake on the Jets or swap them out for another selection.
Partial Cash Out is another tool I often use. Using the same bet, you can take out part of your winnings after the Devils and Giants win while leaving some action riding on the Jets.
bet365 also has fantastic market depth, especially in the futures department. You’ll find options you won’t see elsewhere, like bets on who’ll make the MLB's 30-30 club. If you don’t see a bet you want, just ask and they might the odds for you. The options are practically endless.
The biggest downside of bet365 for NJ bettors is that they often have poor props pricing. And I've talked to a lot of friends who got limited after going on a win streak—something that I personally think is unfair (though unfortunately pretty common among NJ sportsbooks).

4) BetMGM: Best Promotions at NJ Sportsbooks
BetMGM was the second sportsbook to launch in NJ, debuting in August 2018, right after DraftKings. It originally went by PlayMGM but was rebranded as BetMGM in September 2019. They’re licensed through Borgata Casino in Atlantic City, where they also run a retail sportsbook.
BetMGM consistently brings some of the best promos in NJ. They kick it off with a solid welcome bonus, and when pro sports seasons start rolling, they step up their game. That’s when you’ll see things like early payout offers, profit boost packs, and second chance TD bounses.
Of course, you’ll also find staple perks like a referral bonus—usually the biggest out of all the books—and the industry-leading MGM Rewards program.
BetMGM offers a great selection of props for major sports. When the Jets take the field, you’ll find plenty of player props for rushing, scoring, and receiving. They also offer alternate lines for these bets. For example, you can bet on Garrett Wilson to go over 50, 75, 100, or even 125 receiving yards.
What I like about BetMGM is how early they post their lines. For example, they had next year’s Grand Slam odds in tennis right after the US Open finished. This can be a huge edge if you’ve got a read on a sleeper pick, like I did with Taylor Fritz’s breakout year in 2024.
On the flip side, the user experience can be clunky. Sometimes, you have to double-click to place a bet, which makes you think it went through when it didn’t (I’ve been there and ended up not getting a bet in because it never went through).

5) DraftKings: Best NJ Sportsbook for Props Betting
DraftKings was the first legal online sportsbook in New Jersey, going live in August 2018. They’re partnered with Resorts Casino in Atlantic City and run a retail sportsbook there.
DraftKings is also the official betting partner of the NY Giants, who play their home games at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, strengthening their connection with local sports fans.
The biggest calling card for DraftKings is their variety of props, and it’s not just for the major sports. In boxing, for example, you’ll find lines for most punches landed and thrown—bets you won’t see at other sportsbooks.
I also regularly use their Stats Hub, which provides detailed game analysis and previews. I pulled up a NJ Devils game, and they showed me exact percentages on how often they’ve historically covered the puck line, their over/under record for the last five games, and even advanced stats like under-pressure performance—like their win percentage in overtime and shootouts. It’s valuable info that can help you make smarter bets.
DraftKings is also a great choice for NFL teaser betting. They offer favorable -120 odds on 2-team, 6-point teasers (Wong Teasers), while most other books have these at -130.
But there are a couple of downsides to DraftKings that are worth noting. They often charge more vig than other books, and if you get on a hot streak, don’t be surprised if they limit your max bet size.

6) BetRivers: Best Sports Coverage Among NJ Sportsbooks
BetRivers launched in NJ under the Play SugarHouse brand in 2018 but rebranded to BetRivers in August 2022. Their land-based partner is Golden Nugget in Atlantic City. Along with their sportsbook, BetRivers also runs an online casino on the same platform.
BetRivers covers almost every sport you can think of, with odds on 29 different sports. You’ll also find lines for some niche sports, like athletics, snooker, and even e-sports, which you can legally bet on in NJ.
If you’re looking to bet on the Red Bulls or any other soccer team, BetRivers is your best option in New Jersey. Our odds analysis across thousands of matches showed that BetRivers charges the smallest vig on soccer games.
Another thing I appreciate about BetRivers is how fast their payouts are. While they say it can take up to 5 business days, I’ve always gotten my money within a few hours.
I like how they mix in tips when you're browsing betting options. They throw in some interesting nuggets. For example, in a Devils game, they showed me a stat that the Devils’ last 8 night games against Atlantic Division teams all went over the total goals line. That’s some actually useful info that can help you make better bets.
My biggest issue with BetRivers is the annoying desktop newsfeed that hogs a good chunk of space on the right side of the screen, showing the latest casino wins from other players. It's something that may seem small but it's distracting and frustrating every time I place bets on my computer.
BetRivers also has occasional functionality issues, like connection bugs (even when my Wi-Fi is running smoothly) and screens not loading properly.

7) Fanatics: Best Rewards Program Among NJ Betting Apps
Fanatics is the newest sports betting app in NJ, launching in May 2024 after acquiring PointsBet. They got market access through a partnership with Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford and operate a retail sportsbook at Ocean Resort. Though Fanatics replaed PointsBet, they rolled out a brand-new product—it’s not just a rebranded version of the old sportsbook.
Fanatics is essential to have in your NJ sportsbook rotation if you're into live betting. Their live betting platform is lightning-fast, and the odds are among the best. They’ve also partnered with Genius, so you can stream NFL games in the app. You can even bet on granular moments within a game thanks to their micro-betting options—like wagering on the outcome of the next drive in a Jets game.
Their FanCash rewards program is a huge bonus for high-volume bettors. It gives you a percentage back on your bets, and you can stack points fast. Those points can be traded for bonus bets or sports gear from their Fanatics shop.
Another strong point is their prop odds, which are some of New Jersey's best. When shopping for lines, it’s always worth checking what Fanatics has for props. I regularly find them offering the best deal which can make a big difference in your longterm profitability.
Fanatics also offers creative season props, including unique combo bets you won’t find elsewhere. For example, they’ve got a line for the Jets to win the AFC East and the Chiefs to win the AFC West.
The biggest miss so far is the lack of a desktop platform. Honestly, it’s surprising that Fanatics hasn’t launched one yet, especially when all the major competitors have had theirs up for a while.

8) Borgata: Best NJ Sportsbook for Spread Betting
Borgata launched in May 2019, using its sister property in Atlantic City to get its license.
Borgata is a “BetMGM Lite.” It shares the same platform and betting program as BetMGM, but the promos are slightly scaled back. That makes sense since BetMGM is their flagship brand.
Still, if you like BetMGM, it’s worth signing up with Borgata, too, just to grab their welcome bonus—the overall experience is pretty much the same.
Borgata is one of the first NJ books I check when I'm line shopping for spread bets. They consistently have competitive odds for this bet type, and I’ve found some solid value there.
If you’re into UFC, Borgata has some fun specials. You can bet on the interval of a fight, like whether it’ll be won in the first minute. I also like their college football offerings, though you can’t bet on NJ schools because of state law. But you can still bet on the National Championship winner, Big 12 winner, and other conference champs.
On the downside, the functionality issues from BetMGM carry over to Borgata. The app is a bit slow when switching between screens, and sometimes, you’ll need to click on something twice to get it to load.

9) theScore BET: Best NJ Sportsbook for NHL Betting
ESPN BET, including New Jersey, launched nationwide on November 14, 2023. They partnered with Freehold Raceway and Resorts Casino for market access.
On December 1, 2025, ESPN BET rebranded as theScore Bet after ESPN and Penn National Gaming ended their deal.
theScore Bet is a top choice for hockey bettors in New Jersey, mainly because of their competitive odds. They charge the lowest vig on NHL bets compared to other NJ sportsbooks according to our analysis of hundred of games, meaning your winning bets with theScore Bet could net you bigger profits than they would at other books.
They also offer creative NHL futures, especially around season leaders. You can bet on who will lead the regular season in power play points, the top rookie goalscorer, the shots-on-goal leader, and more.
On the NFL side, they have some exciting future options, too. My favorite is their team seeding bets, where you wager on a team’s final seed. For example, the Jets might have a line set at 5.5, and you bet whether they’ll finish above or below that number.
Don’t sleep on theScore Bet’s boosts. They’ve got some quirky boosts you won’t find elsewhere like for a rushing TD to be scored in every NFL game that day. When I saw it, it was boosted from +550 to +650, which is pretty significant.
The biggest letdown is the app functionality. The platform runs a bit slower than other books, and the content organization isn’t the most intuitive—especially when navigating props, where it takes some digging to find what you want. Instead of categorizing them nicely in intuitive dropdowns and sub-menus, theScore Bet crams them all into tabs, with each option taking up too much space, making you scroll a ton.

10) Hard Rock Bet: Best NJ Sportsbook for Parlays
Hard Rock Bet entered the NJ market in January 2019, using its Hard Rock AC property for market access and licensing, where they also operate a retail sportsbook.
I’m not one to push parlay bets—they’re typically a losing strategy in the long run—but if you like to take a shot now and then, Hard Rock Bet is as good as any in NJ, thanks to their Flex Parlay feature.
This promo gives you a cushion when you miss a few picks on your parlay. And I’m not talking about a basic no-sweat refund where they just give back your stake—you can pull in a profit even if you miss 2+ legs. For instance, if you hit on the Jets and Devils to win but the Giants lose, you could still walk away with a small payout.
I also like the props options Hard Rock Bet offers, especially for the NFL. They’ve got some cool play-by-play props, like whether there will be an offensive score or if Garrett Wilson catches a pass on their first drive.
From time to time, Hard Rock Bet also throws valuable odds boosts. For example, I saw a two-team moneyline parlay boosted from +120 to +180 on two NFL games.
My main gripe with Hard Rock Bet is their over/under lines, which sometimes push into the 35-cent range (like -120 and -115), while other books offer -110. Plus, they’ve gotten some negative feedback on forums I regularly check for limiting winners.
